It doesn't take anything special to become a member here. So you still need to be watchful in the for sale sections. You can check a seller to see if they have positive or negative feedback. Sometimes it also helps to note how long they've been a member here. In addition to the gougers there are also good deals, you just have to watch for em.

Honestly, a lot of times people just guess at the value of a part when listing them for sale. With used parts, sometimes throwing "$10" "$50" or "$100" is something that sounds reasonable when listing an item. Sometimes, it turns out to be a $700 part from the dealer and other times it turns out to be a $50 part at the dealership. I doubt anybody would maliciously list at a price above what a dealer would charge if they researched it. The only people I know that would do that, would be the dealers themselves with their "Adjusted Market Value".

I wanted to believe that too. I could see not knowing any better being informed then dropping the price to something reasonable. But some of these people know full well what they are doing because they are told that's more than it is new from the stealership. And there attitude is oh well as they wait for the next guy to come along that doesn't know better.
