profiled by police

When I go into the DC 'burbs, I see a lot of slammed and tinted Civics, etc., pulled over. One night I was driving through that area and took off from a light but backed off at the limit. Car comes up behind, and I get the spotlight through my window. Cop sees an adult white guy and takes off, waaay over the limit.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was thinking something on the same line!

I've gotten more breaks form cops than hassles in any corvette that I've driven than other NORMAL cars.
My son came home on mid deployment break from his 13 Mo army tour in Mosel Iraq. He asked me if he could take the ZO6 out for a ride to his friends house?
Sure,,, NO PROBLEM!

On his way to his friends house, He passed a lady that was turning left using the shoulder/ break down lane. About a millisecond later, a town cop pulled him over and SIX radio cars pulled in and surrounded the car. (They must of thought he was going to RUN!)

Oh,,,
,,, He looks like he 17 years old... Driving a 450 RWHP rumpaty rumpty cammed, lowered C5 ZO6,, Oh,,
,,there's a switch for that too!!!

I wouldn't even allow my Terp to get that close to mine, and he was my lifeline while hunting bad guys......
God bless that boy of yours...
I too have a son currently serving "Navy"... Oh, and I would not allow him to drive my Vette....

I agree, with Lee on this.
I moved to SoCal 1 1/2 years ago. I find the LEO's pay no more attention to me (in my C5) than others, probably less. Lots of way more exotic cars out here.
I did get 'Lasered' twice on the way down to Murrieta, to CMS, the other day. I think it was CHP on an overpass on I 15. But, I had the cruise set on 5 over, and that's not who they are looking for....
I've chatted with several Los Angelos County sheriffs deputies over coffee (at golf course cafe) about this. They say, generally, that they have way more important things to do, than look for Corvettes to harass. I get no feeling at all from these guys, that they are at all 'looking' for guys in C5 or Corvette generally.
I've had several instances over the years, and not one ticket in Corvettes, where Cops turn out to be just guys, who admire my C5 (or back when I had C4's), and will 'talk cars' with you if given the chance, rather than write tickets. Of course, as they used to say; if you walk up to MIke Tyson, with your chin sticking out, and dare him to hit you; well, we all know how that will turn out.....
I spent most of my adult life in Illinois before retiring and moving here. An Illinois State Trooper once told me, that he would never give a guy in a Corvette a ticket; unless he'd been drinking. He told me he's pulled several Corvettes over, just to 'slow em down a little', then send them on their way'. Then, he whipped out his wallet, and showed me a picture of his C5....
Don
Hence why I moved...it was literally that bad. I got pulled over by 6 police when driving a testarossa one evening. Two in a parking lot started following me about a half mile back...I saw them clearly, did the speed limit of course, etc...about 5 miles down the road a fleet of cops come from various directions and stop me. Accused me of running a red light, etc. I argued flat out, then all of a sudden they changed tune and started asking how I could afford the car and what I did for a living. I answered with a short tone then spoke to the fact I used to work for a local police dept and that I was in a hurry and wanted to know why I was stopped. They avoided the question then just said nice meeting me....****in bs.
I was stopped in my Z06 by a cop that was sitting in a parking lot with no vision to the road at all...he stopped me because he said it SOUNDED like I was speeding. Yet again, I cited that I used to work for the dept and that I'd never recalled someone being stopped for sounding like they were speeding. He laughed...yet again another person asks me how much the car costs and how I could afford such a machine. Consider the fact that part time police in that region avg 12-14 dollars per hour, so they compensate by writing traffic..and a lot of it.
I still have police friends to this day that say if you aren't profiling you aren't doing good police work.
I had my car for less then a month, pulled out of my driveway seen him sitting in a parking lot as I pulled out so I was just putting along he pulled right out after me pulled me over about a mile later, usual "license & registration" as i handed it to him he asked me how long have you owned this "Chevy" i said about 3 weeks he went to his car about 5 minutes later returns and tells me you have no front plate and your windows are tinted wheres your front plate? I told him its in the trunk since its a corvette I really didn't want it on i see most corvettes dont have them on, then he said i was surprised you didn't get offended or try to correct me when I said "Chevy" most vette owners do, I replied well its is GM made so it dont bother me he laughed handed me my license and registration started to walk away so I asked him if I dont put my plate on we going to meet again? he said maybe, maybe not
thats been about 7 months ago I see him around but (knock on wood) still no front plate, something tells me if i was offended or did reply its a "Corvette" i'd have my front plate on and probably legal tint
so i do be leave that "some" officers do profile

I have a lot of respect for the local police. It's a dirty job, high risk, low pay.

I hear it's right next to the "Driving While Black" switch.
