...but it has got to come down.

Thanks
It sure needs to be lowered, but that will be the last thing to do in my built. I already got the Stance coil over kit, but right now I´m not sure if I´ll install it or use another kit. When I bought it, I was not aware that it cant pass Danish inspection as there is no documentation or certificate that it fits (or is approved) for at C5. I cant really blame Dennis/DDmods, as I actually didnt know and I didnt ask him in the buying process - so its my own fault. My opportunities seems to be:
Install the Stance kit - and get it approved during a individual driving test at inspection (which means the will take it to a track and test it to the limits...)
Sell the Stance kit in Europe, and buy a coil over kit with the German TÜV approval (KW makes a few kits for C5)
Sell the Stance kit in Europe, and lower it on the bolts (which will include a lowering kit and some shorter shocks)
My inspection guy will come back to me soon with all the terms and conditions for the driving test in alternative 1 - but I´m pretty sure that it will involve some tests that I dont wont my car to be a part of. Not that it will be a trailer queen - it is built to be used for fun - but the test will for sure put some wear on the suspension, brakes and drive train.
So I think I´ll end up selling the kit and get the "KW variant 3" or "KW club sport", when I´m sure it will pass inspection. I dont know how long the process will take getting all the parts - so maybe I´ll lowered 1" on stock bolts for a few month, so I´m able to drive it without the 4X4 look
WOW
I am very impressed with your skills and the work you did.
I really love the clean look of the underside of the hood and deck lid after all of the gaps were filled.........simply AMAZING

Congrats my friend on a job well done.
Thanks It has been fun so far - and its a true joy when you begin assembling all the parts (lots of it have been ideas in my head, and its nice to see that it actually works when everything is put together)
Have been dealing with a water leak at the a-pillar (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1594736581) but finally its located. So now it can be fixed, and then I can move on with the final assembly (interior, adjusting lights AND new suspension).
I couldn´t resist taking af few pictures today in the sun - the paint really comes alive (and yes, I´m aware of the 4x4 look, but it will be solved soon)
The stance coil over kit is sold, and I´ve made a request for the German KW Variant3 kit, which has the needed TÜV approval. They are assembled by order, so it will take some time - but its worth waiting.
I have nice paint, it was repainted and turned out better than factory.
That being said, I'm extremely careful to keep swirls off the car. I ended up with tiny micro swirls and couldn't figure out how that happened. Local paint guy said it's the cover I put on the car. Even though it's the best you can get (soft, plush) over time taken on and off it put swirls in the paint.
He said the best thing to do is let it get dust, and blow it off with air once out of the garage. If I was going to park it for a couple months he suggested the clear painters plastic. Use a new one and drape it over the car.
Thought I'd tell you... might save you a little frustration later.
Finally I got the last parts installed and was able to take it for a test drive. Everything works perfect though the belts have started to make a noise (as many others have reported = new belts and maybe new tensioners). But that´s a minor issue compared to the whole build. I´m still in line for the KW coil overs...
Today I also had to go to the Danish inspection (every car has to pass inspection every 2nd year), and everything went fine
Could resist to capture the sun and the new paint...
What a great build! Your resto with mods build gave me a few ideas for my own 02 torch red 06 resto+mods build. Appreciate the tips/ideas.
Thanks, that´s the unique thing about forums like this - we help each other and share - and I´ve received a lot help and good advices, before I was able to begin my built
Today I had finally access to a shop where I could do the coilover install - and get rid of the 4x4 look
This is how it looked before we started:
The KW variant 3 kit was not easy at all to install. Off course we had all the good write ups from several forum threads, but there is some major issues when the shocks have the remote reservoir as these. They need a lot more room to fit in - so we had to dis-assemble a lot more.
This is how it looks after a short 10 km drive. They will properly settle a bit, but I actually think the current "look" is good (right now my LT-collectors scrape my drive way - but could be eliminated if the front end was 5 mm higher).
It still needs an alignment - and I need to figure out how to test the tire fitment (to make sure the tires wont hit the fenders through suspension travel).
Thanks for all the positive posts. It has been so fun building something like this - and being in Europe I could only do it because of fantastic help and advice from many CF-members. Both in this thread and spending hours reading all other kinds of threads, where helpful members has taken the time to give the OP an answer.
I´m pretty sure that this thread will go on for years. I have lots of plans to do, and I think it will be fun having all the things in one thread.
