Here is another version of the front end with relocated DRL lights and the fog bezel area blacked out. License plate area removed.( I know not street legal, put the plate under with the stow away plate? ) I like this look. Kinda storm trooperish.

One thing ive been focusing on is getting the air needed for cooling and performance. Its weird, when you sit and work within paint shop, small details make huge aesthetic differences. This design is likely too low but it can be raised a bit and still get a nice low look. The stock front bumper is too high for my tastes. The license plate area, the more i look at it. How it was designed, how the cover is poorly affixed, the more I think Im going to do away with it. Thanks pounder.

You are addressing two points that I don't like on the front. The license plate is just a ugly bug catcher (no plate in Mi.) and the bottom air intake is a major issue for me. I have to drive on dirt for 250 feet before I get to pavement, when I come home the engine is hot and the fans are running full blast. It 's like a giant vacuum cleaner it sucks everything up and into my condenser and radiator // not to mention all the dust in my engine bay !!! I added screens in front and below my condenser so it's easy to clean.

My my. Look at that engine bay. Deng pounder that looks freaking sweet. I dont know if any of my designs would stop the vacuum effect. To my knowledge that is caused by the under car air deflector. However. If you open up the bumper itself, maybe that entire scraping piece can be removed along with the flexible rubber sides. I dunno.

Im going to also post a version with the fog bezel area completely removed and made smooth. But that will make it look very much unlike a c5. Lets try and see what it looks like.

Now we get a little exotic and rearrange everything on the front of the C5. We lose the pop up lights and add bumper mounted HID lighting. Just for fun, but just imagine if you had the engineering capabilities and a shop that could pull this off! A C6 "style" light mounted lower on the bumper itself! I envy anyone that has the know how to pull off custom projects. I have the visions but that's about it. I have some engineering experience but nothing close to what it would take to pull this off.

Rear view, I'm working on more renditions of the rear. To me, Vettes have round tail lights so I won't mess with that. I like the blacked out bottom section of the fascia with the wing on light colored C5's. When the bottom section is body colored the rear end looks huge from top to bottom.

I got the original pre design source pic off the web, anyone know what exhaust that is? Thanks

IMO the front is so low on both sides I would scrape on everything here in Houston... I had to raise my C5 up because it was not fun to drive... The wrong grade in a parking lot entrance would leave me high centered and shooting sparks everywhere. Speed bumps were like impassable barriers that I frequently raked my front end across.

While I agree this looks cool it would be a huge PIA.

Yep. It's definitely too low.

The body kit on a coupe. First is with larger wheels and tires. Second shows the OEM size. I also added BSM's to the first for illustration for those of us who like them.

Yes, I like body colored wheels. ALOT!

I am not the only one who doesn't like the BSM. If the OP likes it, it's fine.

I think you are on to something with this version here. Definitely the center plate has to go. On the stock car it looks like such a last minute ad on

I agree totally Tom, That version might be doable. Not so much the blacked out DRL's or even relocating them but the complete removal of the license plate area is definitely a possibility. Have a great day Tom

Hopefully you can keep at least the portion of the Fog light where the Vararam scoop mounts up since many of us run that. A different DRL setup could be much desired. I like the up graded tigershark that has an LED strip. I know this is your design just throwing some ideas out there. Off to work have a great day!

Man this thread is like a drive down memory lane. If you had money, you'd be dangerous...lol.

You remind me a bit of Nick Alessi (not in all ways, but some). I exhibited with Nick at LA Auto Show years ago. Nick was a cool guy...one of the coolest ever. Nick was a body guy and designed his own car in the 70's. Well, his parents passed away in 2007/8 and they left him a bundle. Upon their death they said, "pursue your dream!" Nick admitted he always wanted to do 2 things...marry an asian woman and create his own car.

So, upon getting the money, Nick ordered a woman from Vietnam (she was actually pretty attractive) and got to work on his car (which he had at the show). Nick...man he was a cool character, but his car...LOL...omg. I mean...the guy could work fiberglass and it wasn't bad...some elements were actually good, but the overall car was just a damn disaster. Take it to the local parking lot car show in town and he'd be a superstar, but put him in La Auto Show with real builders...everyone was laughing at the poor guy and I knew it. In the end though, Nick was such a cool cat that everyone was just like "go for it bro".

I can tell you that Nick probably spent 200k marketing this car. He probably had 150k into it. He wanted 375k for the car (likely to pay himself back) and that just wasn't gonna happen. This car had a carb'd small block with a banks turbo kit on it. There is actually a lot of Corvette in there...the center capsule is all C5. Some elements weren't bad, but overall it was just a damn disaster.

He enjoyed himself though...I'll give him that.

There are TONS of older guys out west...Cali types, that all go down this road. They spend a fortune to remake a Corvette into something else that their eye sees. I can give you a few names right now of guys doing it. I know a guy that took a C6, put over 1 MILLION dollars into it...sh*t you not, and got it to Pebble BEACH! He wants 2 MILLION for the car...lol...it's a C6.

Here is the car:

You think that's cool...lol. Never surprises me what the Corvette crowd finds attractive and desirable. Probably why you see all the chrome stickons and hawaiin shirts in the catalog...lol...those are cool too I suppose.

Eric...lose the headlights...quit while you're ahead..
