6 responses with well over 100 views on this thread is a pretty good indication that a fair number of "Corvette enthusiasts" condone texting while driving and are guilty of it. Personally, I have no sympathy or tolerance for someone that allows their cell phone to rule their life, and end up getting killed because a text, selfie, or social media status update can't wait. How selfish so many are to be that frivolous with other people's lives, that they might as well roll down the window, and say "Hey, f**k your life, I'm in my own self-absorbed world, deal with it at your own peril".

It doesn't matter if the story is true, it doesn't matter that there is no back seat. What matters are lives. Yours, mine and innocent workers and motorists.
Is your life worth a text. You may not respect me or my views but have more respect for your own life. Things change quickly behind the wheel.
Don't text and drive.

Texting and driving was definitely not the only issue here. The speed it would take to get that far under the truck has got to be pretty high, even in a fiberglass car. Maybe he was using the Snapchat speedometer thing I just saw on the news the other day.... But, since this picture looks like it was taken in about 2000, I'm guessing not.
Also, this was obviously a fatal accident and I am not attempting to make light of it. I also don't condone the practice of texting and driving although I am occasionally guilty. I'm just saying that I think this image may be being repurposed for propaganda-esque purposes.

In what way does the lack of responses to a re purposed picture mean many of us condone texting and driving? I in no way condone texting while driving, but the issue is that whoever made the picture probably googled a fatal accident, used a picture and made the caption. They simply made it as a scare tactic. Sure texting and driving is a very dangerous thing to do, but at least use real statistics or a real accident to get the point across.
Incredibly dangerous! Just as I was retiring from law enforcement the stats at that time were indicating that cells phones/texting while operating a motor vehicle put the chances of being involved in an accident at about the same level as drunk driving. Last year, my gals son ran flat into the back of a brand new F250 truck at about 40 mph, you guessed it, texting! Luckily, no one seriously injured, put him afoot for the better part of a year when I declined to replace his truck. No phone call, either placed or received, is worth your health, or worse yet your life or the life of another. Turn the damn phone off when you get in the car, turn it back on when you're out of it. Be safe and best wishes to all!
I believe anyone 'caught' texting and driving should pay a massive price for having done so. It is a willful decision by them, a total disregard for the safety, health, indeed the life, of others.
They should pay in dollars, jail time, and also loss of license (years, if not for life). All of the above!
There is no constitutional right, to distracted driving!
We as a society know this is wrong, and we should not tolerate it, whilst watching the death tolls climb.
I've written my Congresswoman, and informed her of my views on this.
Think of your loved ones, wives, children, grandchildren; out on the roads right now, at the mercy of distracted drivers.
How many more must die and be crippled victums of this behavior, before we stand up, and say 'we've had enough of this' ?
Well I've been chastised twice today, once here and once when I got home from some errands. Wife, "don't you ever answer your phone" me " I called you from my last stop and I don't answer my phone when I'm driving".
