In my area I have a choice between non-ethanol 87 and 10% ethanol 93 I am thinking the 87 with octane booster? The original owner said he only ran 87 with ethanol....

Is this question for real?
And the original owner used nothing but 87 octane? How many miles did the original owner put on the car? I hope you don't have untimely engine failure due to the use of sub standard fuel..
I only put name brand 93 octane in my Corvette and in every Corvette that I have owned (13 since 1978). Do a search on the harmful effects of using low octane fuel in a high compression or boosted engine. Your LS1 was engineered to run on high octane fuel. You may not hear or feel the detonation or pinging when the car is not under load and even when under load due to road noise, the stereo, outside noises etc. but it is happening and it is damaging your engine.
Here I'm stuck with 91 and all I'll use is the Shell w/ Techron. I'm wondering if that is a good enough "dose" of cleaner for general upkeep? Since it is a low mileage car and I'm not sure exactly of its usage profile, I used Seafoam first tank which was a couple months ago. I would be tempted to just go with BG 44K if additives are advised for PM's, but I don't want to snake oil the car when really not needed.

Supposedly the car can adjust to 87 octane. There is a "****" fuel map to prevent detonation. But it will drastically hurt performance. I don't understand why someone would run 87 in a C5. You're saving just a few bucks per fill up and losing a lot of power.

Read the owners manual. It should be located in your glove box. If you do not have an owners manual then do a google search for one in PDF form. Once obtained, read it. In there you will notice that it is recommended that you use PREMIUM fuel. If you cannot obtain premium fuel then go with the highest octane available. With that being said 91 octane is the lowest you should put in your car on a regular basis. Anything lower can cause damage.
Either the previous owner is a moron or you are a troll.

Yes a real question, did not sound right but if that the case I can't change that now. He is a retired gentlemen and car was a garaged but driven, it has 101,000 miles on it but looks new, One owner dealer serviced car.
I asked about the no ethanol with octane booster due to fuel system issues I have read about. Based on all the suggestions here I will definitely be using premium with additive moving forward.
He took good care of the car, just put new shocks and run flats on it before I bought it. It is a weekend take the wife to dinner car for me, may do some spirited driving when alone in car. 😎 I enjoy it and love the lines of the c5....best looking vette in my opinion.

I must have been mistaken I thought this was a place to ask questions and a great resource for information?
I cannot fix what the previous owner put in the car for fuel, just trying to do the right thing moving forward!
I am not a troll, just a old gear head that has been out of the game for a long time.

Have a good day
Definitely the right place to come to for information. I do stand by my statement that the previous owner was a moron. However, I do apologize for the Troll comment. This topic has been beat to death and sometimes it's hard to tell who is asking a legit question or who is just trying to stir the pot.

Thanks everybody for the information
I wish you the best of luck with your '02 Corvette. I agree with you that the C5 is the best looking Gen Corvette. Nice that the PO just replaced the runflats and shocks before selling it to you. Sorry, but at first I wasn't sure that this thread was serious. I now know that it is.
Welcome and congrats on the C5.
You don't need any extra additives to the gas as fuel system cleaners, other than a 20oz bottle of Techron every few months if the car is not driven regularly, to keep the sensor in the fuel tank clean from sulfur deposits in the fuel and cause it to stop registering correctly. The rest of those are unnecessary if you use a quality premium fuel.
I have a Mobil station about a mile from my house, I will be filling up there. I am going to stop on the way home today and pick up a bottle of techron.
No worries Guy's I tried a search, maybe I am forum illiterate but I couldn't find the answers I Recieved. Thanks for all the reply's.
I had a 1976 stingray with a L48, and have owned several F bodies....I really dug in here on this forum before purchasing the car, which I believe helped me buy the best car for the money I spent. I was so focused on getting a good car, I was not aware of this things capability! I was expecting 80's F body performance, the 76's cool factor...wow that is not what I got....350 hp ok not unheard of, in a factory 3,300 lb car ok now starting to get interesting, transaxle in an American built car? Weight distributed almost equally between front and rear.....starting to sound kinda like race car of some kind. Check badge again yes Corvette!
I know the above sounds almost dumb on my behalf, but I knew what I wanted in a weekend car, T-top, V-8, GM and Black. I drove some c3's and c4's nice cars but just wasn't the one, knew I didn't want a 4th Gen f body been there done that, drove the 5th Gen Camaro didn't like it. Then I test drove a C5, game on from that point, knew the C5 was the car just had to find the one! I got a whole lot more car than I expected and still finding out things about.....every time I drive it, it is like Christmas morning as a kid!
Just a helpful word of advice. If you need to search the forums for anything just use Google. Type in a search like "C5 Corvette *insert issue here*" that will turn up better results than using the forums search function.
Congrats on the car and enjoy! It will bring many miles of smiles!

I appreciate the heads up, now that you mention it most of the time when I search c5 corvette there are a lot of results that bring me to the forum!
As high as I can get, love those fumes! But I do drive extra to get to stations along the interstate that I know pumps lots of gas, do want stale old crap.
