Does look a bit tight but it might be a bit of an optical Illusion due to the printed plastic framework.

Dump the thumb rests and I’m on board.

Airbag is too big to shrink the whee. It’ll never look right.

Yeah the spacing at the bottom does look pretty tight. Hopefully Jack can remedy on the prototype.

This was my first concern so I tried to hold the wheel with my hands in those areas and there is enough clearance to hold the wheel with your hand comfortably. Not much space of course but being 6' tall I could move my palms in out out quite freely. Not sure what it will be like on a twisty mountain road or a track of course - for this purpose I'd have to take an actual prototype, not 3D printed for a test drive. Hopefully some day in June

Why? I've always thought they are a nice and functional upgrade.

Well, There's no way we can make the airbag smaller so I guess we'll have to live with the wheel as it is.

Jack hopes so as well Hoe to have some good news soon.

Thanks for the update!

On the compact wheel the thumb rests look oddly shaped and the placement unnatural.

IMO in a smaller dia thicker rimed wheel they aren’t even needed.

Default Yes !!

I've been looking at the Momo square/ flat bottom wheel with the detachable hub. Having nothing other than the bag on my steering wheel I figure "Why Not". Redline; please consider a smaller flat bottom wheel with access to push buttons ( push to pass - flash headlights) and a cover that looks like a airbag. I'm using a four point restraint and really don't feel a need for driver's side bag. Anyway, I feel you're on to something here. Keep us informed.

Wow, I didn't even realize this thread is already 5 years old! 😱

It's been an extremely bumpy road! We were going back and forth, making mistakes that had to be made when doing something for the very first time, especially with no technology diploma, having only a crazy idea and a strong belief that it will finally come to life 😉 There were numerous times when I was on the verge of giving up. There were times when after a dozen tryouts there still was something very wrong.

But there was also consistency and perseverance. Or, most probably, it was just plain stubbornness 🤪

Whatever it was, it brought us to the first smaller diameter steering wheels for C6 Corvette being shipped to their new owners this week 😁🤩💥💪😎

So...
... what do you think, guys?

Yes, I know, "Now where's the C5 version???" you will probably be asking 😁

The answer is: "Now that the C6 wheel project is finally completed and production started, we're building a C5 prototype mold and hope to show you smaller steering wheel for a C5 this spring😁🤩💥!"

Stay tuned!

Take care

I'm glad you guys finally had success with your C6 wheel. I suspect that the C5 wheel will prove to be an even bigger challenge. Hopefully, what you've learned from the C6 will help speed up the process on the C5 wheel. I would have had interest in this. Unfortunately, it just took you way too long to actually bring this product to market. I'm unlikely to buy one now that I've spent $900 on a nice carbon fiber wheel that I'm happy with. I'm sure you'll have plenty of interest though once you finally have the C5 version ready to sell.

I second this. Hope they still haven't given up on a nice small C5 steering wheel. I would definitely be interested in one.

Faster turning, tighter and more direct overall feel of the car, more legroom. And finally, less of a bus-wheel-look

Great quality work. Really looking forward to see a smaller C5 wheel with actual finished coverings as long as the 4 & 8 o'clock hand positions aren't too pinched
