The good news is the bolt I thought was stripped probably isn’t since I broke the last socket on that one. But this is insane. Has anyone else ever had these bolts so tight
I broke 2 sockets as well; using an impact driver will help.
I own a low mileage 2002 Z06 that is driven gently with RPM's usually never over 3500-4000 . Build date in Feb. Not sure what to do about the potential valve spring issue. I would have to have the work done for me and wondering what a fair price parts and labor would be. Car has never been at the track or raced. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I own the same year car with a build date of early April. For peace of mind, I had my mechanic, Rick at http://www.rktperformance.com change the valve springs. At the same time, we changed plugs, wires, valve seals, and gaskets. Labor was $400. Parts were in addition. Bought all my parts at what is now https://www.cultragfactoryparts.com, a Forum vendor. Work was done three years ago.
Unless, you're a gambler, and the odds are not in your favor, I would change the valve springs. Pay the cost now or pay the cost later. Now, would be around $700 or so, or buy a new engine later and later very well could be tomorrow.
Also, I hear that you no longer can get a factory LS6 new or rebuilt engine. If you need an engine replacement, a LS3 would be the package to go with but, if you live in a smog state like California, you will not pass smog.
If you elect to make the right choice in replacing the valve springs, like a few previous posters have said this would be the time to replace the seals, etc. Also, I would replace the cooling system hoses and coolant if you haven't already because they are 15-16 years old now.

I I agree with others if you feel lucky. Doesn't matter how low the milage or how gently driven. They can go at any time. My job cost 900, expect between 700-900. Have a good corvette shop do it unless you are a good mechanic.
