Definitely a nice transformation! Lots of good ideas for when I get around to doing a little more work on mine. Thanks for sharing.

2k2wranglerx - IMO the Wildwood calipers you chose are a great value, they have stainless pistons to lower heat transmission and a more robust construction. 2 piece slotted rotors with directional cooling vanes could be added later to improve cooling, reduce weight and rotational mass if HPDE roadcourse events are of interest. Lastly the red powdercoated Wilwood calipers look great.

Thanks man. hopefully get it out of the garage and get some pics of it with the new side skirts tonight. I've just been so busy with work i haven't had a chance.

Thanks man. The feel of the brakes is night and day improved. Guys will often say that stopping distances remain the same since the ABS is the ABS. While that may be true, there's a LOT of braking that happens between just touching them and standing on them lol. I couldn't be happier with the feel, look, and price. 2 piece rotors may happen down the line. It'll depend how much this gets raced. Also the quick change pads are REALLY handy... heck, with the 18/19 combo i can probably change pads without pulling the wheels lol.

YES! but barely!!!!!

Drove over to my buddy travis's (which if you're following, he lives in my neighborhood, has the yellow z06 he traded his mustang for).

It looks so good. I'm getting boatloads of hate on the corvette pages on facebook. So many old men complaining about me making my car less driveable. If this was a DD there's no way i could live with this lip and being as low as I am. But this isn't. I drive it whenver i feel like it. I'm not one of those guys that even thinks about mileage and what not. But the reality is it gets driven in the evenings on back roads, on highway trips, and to the autox pad. That's kind of it. I have a company car for work. So there's no reason to daily this when part of my pay (that i'm taxed on) is a company car (which is a focus st currently). I'd rather put the wear/tear of daily driving on something that costs me $0 than daily the vette.

However, for what i do with it. This lip and setup just does it for me. The car sits exactly how i want it. the lip looks amazing. I can get in/out of my garage/driveway. No it won't go over a speed bump. But it wouldn't do that before i put the lip on (i have scrapes on the long tube collectors to prove i tried).

It REALLY makes me want side skirts... i'm just hesitant because the quick jack barely slides under as is. so we'll see.
Don't worry about side skirts and QuickJack, just back onto it instead of sliding it under.

Finally got some daylight pics. Not the best but the kiddo was whining lol

I still need to black out the rivets but you guys get an idea of how its sitting. Gotta figure out a rear splitter now. I love the carbon creations but he is having supplier issues. So they're not available.

Haha ya. We have more cloudy days than Seattle.

on the topic of the build. I've been pretty hung ho on a blower setup. But I'm kinda considering tossing a cam in it and calling it good powerwise. I was ripping around the other day and it doesnt NEED 600 hp... so I dunno.

Looking at the next phase of the build....

na option
heads/cam/tune $2300
carbon fiber hood $1200
carbon fiber diffuser $1000?
cage: $800
seats: $1100

so like 6k would have a really nicely finished up car...

add another 6k for the blower....

decisions decisions.

A blower is a cool option, no doubt as it makes beautiful noises, but a bit of a hot take / alternate opinion. High horsepower street cars aren't a ton of fun on the streets. While hardly a rocketship my old STi had somewhere between 380-400 horsepower at the crank and could definitely hold it's own. The problem was to enjoy the car, I'd have to rip through 2, 3 and 4 (I had short gears) and by the time I did that I was up around speeds that weren't exactly non-highway appropriate. It became less enjoyable to drive the car because unless you were on a deserted highway winding it out meant you were going fast enough to get yourself into some hot water.

The C5 is certainly different in that it has low end torque, so you don't need to wind the motor out to get that push yourself into your seat feel. It's a big investment, so I'd make sure you really want to go down that road.

So Travis and I went to cars and coffee the other day. this is only relevant because i can show the splitter/side skirts on lowered vs stock car.

so then i took the car to my daughter's cheerleading/football game and it got into the lot fine... buuuuuuut leaving i hit. I wasn't upset. to me the edge of a front lip is sorta "disposable". But i was annoyed as to WHY it happened. I went to swing wide to make the exit and a crazy lady in a minivan just HAD to pull in and refused to stop. literally rolled right up to me as i was trying to make a wide right (to approach the raised road at as shallow of an angle as possible). Rather than stopping say... i dunno. 5' back. 10' back. she goes right up to me and squeezes me in. She clearly couldn't make it through the space between me and the curb... But that didn't mean she wasn't going to try... so now i'm like well ****, i'm stuck. and ANOTHER football mom saddles up right behind her and another right behind me. I'm like seriously people... so i just did the best i could but scraped.

this looks WAY worse than it is. but here's a close up from when i got home

and what it ACTUALLY looks like in person after i took 10 seconds and snipped the frayed edge off with a pair of scissors.

I think i'm going to toss some black door trim along the edge to kinda help it "slide" if i scrape it again. and this wasn't just a "touch". it was a slow speed CRUUNNNCCHHH as i pulled out.

still looks good. I knew it would happen and i know it won't be the last time.

Sand it smooth and put a little gloss grey paint on it. Nobody (except YOU!) will ever notice it.

Worst case scenario (if it's worse than it looks in the pic), sand down the other side and match the opposite repair so it looks like it was supposed to be that way.

it's honestly not as bad as it looks in the pic. i can spend a few minutes like you said, cleaning it up and it'll pretty much be totally gone.

no big deal. i knew it would eventually happen. i'll be bummed if i "break" the splitter but i was prepared for scrapes.

I'm not totally following what you're saying.

also, i never get tired of looking at this lol.

waiting on a final price for corbeaus and brackets. I think i'm just going to toss all black LG1's in it with C6 belts. I was going to put evolutions in but i KNOW the LG1's are comfortable for me. since my buddy has them in his.

Great build...I really like the stance and color combo. I am interested to see how the LG1 go in for you since there are several different opinions on how they should be installed.
