With all the work you're doing, I'd strongly consider heads. You don't need to go fancy, even just a stock set of 243's would be a solid upgrade. That cam needs free flowing heads to breathe through to make the most power.

i've been looking around... i dunno... i hate putting $ into a 108k mile ls1 when that $ could go into an ls3 swap... which i'm like... why not just go do that while the drivetrain is out... hahaha
no good deals right now... but a few months ago i was seeing ls3's for like 4 grand or so... aluminum ls3's...
say i spend... 4500 on an LS3... Put this BTR Stage 3 cam in it, and tune it... Plus get what? 1500-2k? out of my good LS1.
Vs 1600 bucks in heads just to get to STOCK ls3 hp... I'm only 1000 more away from a WAY more badass build... Once you factor in what i didn't spend on heads and what i got back out of my LS1...
AUGH! the rabbit hole knows no bounds...
*edit* this cam is only for ls1/ls2... but still.... i could probably exchange it.

Eh it could work out that way but planning money on items you have yet to sale is blah. You will in the long run spend more for a swap but if the money isnt an issue then go for it. If money was no issue and I wanted to stay NA then Id do a LS7, if I wanted boost or N2O then a LQ4 6.0 iron block. The LS1 block is able to be bored slightly larger than the LS6 block. At some point it becomes the is it worth all this for a 20 year old car or do I go to a C6/C7. Even on an autocross track one can have more power than they can use and for street driving it is more so a factor. Even 400 ftlb of tq in a C5 is a hell of a fun time especially for just a road cruiser. Still each there own and I cant wait to see what ya do!!!

Head vs heart man. Head vs heart.
I dont want a c6 or c7 honestly. They do nothing for me. And will the c5 be worth 5k more after I put the ls3 in? No probably not.

With all your are doing, I would strongly consider a C8 Corvette.
J.K. I too have the C5 addiction and went down that infamous rabbit hole.
i'm considering one. but i'm probably 5 years out. I'm anticipating slowing down on doing my own work. And once that happens... we'll see... Also, it's hard to justify having a c8 when i have 2 daughters with terminal illness... which sounds strange but it's hard to justify that kind of toy when med bills could destroy you at any time... I mean, we have 2 insurance policies, plus aflac... but you never know...
For now this thing's my stress relief.
*edit* and i'll never sell the C5...

Thanks guys. the vette is kind of my alone time lol. I go down, work on it (or the jeep, or whatever) and it lets me take my mind off of the other stuff.

Deeply sorry to hear about your family. Our thoughts and prayers go out, to you and them.
They're awesome kids. they both have Cystic Fibrosis. They got these mobile afflovests from Colton Underwood this year and it's been a life changer. They're not chained to a machine indoors when they do their lung clearance. It's been awesome.
And i'm still trying to get all the glitter out of my corbeaus from that dress Amelia wore for her 2nd grade dance haha
