I haven't abandoned the vette project. it just took a bit of a back seat for a couple months while i built this car. This one goes in for paint in 2 weeks. And my Vette is in world of wheels next weekend. Once the show is over, and this is out of the garage. The c5 is coming home and getting torn apart...
about to hit the 2 year anniversary of buying this car. i'm still 100% all about it. which is a surprise because i usually lose interest within a year lol.
I love this dumb plastic car.
also: miata is in paint. that comes home sunday. graphics in a week or so and then the vette gets torn apart for the drivetrain!!!!!
Well since we are on lock down (2 kids with cystic fibrosis so we are legit totally self quarantined) I figured it would make sense to grab the vette from storage and tear it apart
Also . Picked up some 243 heads!
the upcoming upgrades
btr stage 3 cam with all the associated stuff
243 heads
Monster stage 2 clutch
New rebuilt tq tube
Merica performance built z06 trans
Merica performance built 4.10 diff
Tick master cyl
Ill probably rip the drivetrain out this weekend since its supposed to be warm
Plugging along. I taped off the head mounting surface and went to town with degreaser and a pressure washer. Cleaned the block and accessories, and the rear cradle (trans/diff/tq tube are already perfect).
got the harmonic balancer off and have the new one here.
Here's a question. Anyone ever pin a summit balancer?
Hey 2k2, I think I've seen your car on YouTube before. Man you have done some major disassembly. It's going to be so nice and clean when you get it done!
I will say that when I put my Powerbond SFI balancer on I didn't pin it. Now I am regretting it as I am thinking harder about going to a belt driven intake manifold so now I will have to go back in there and pin it someday hopefully soon.
