I might just put this back together and send it for now lol. I mean... Everything is 2-3 months out IF they can get parts. So i may put this car together with the understanding that if it loses oil pressure or if it has an issue it's getting parked... because at this point, if i wait 3 months for a motor.... that's mid summer anyway...
I'm thinking put this together, run it, and once there's some solid views on what the economy is going to do and how much i want to spend, order THE motor i want for this car... not just the motor i'm going to deal with...
The other nice thing if you go that route is you can get the engine out reasonably easy without taking the whole entire drivetrain out.
i talked to a couple guys and they said their cam bearings all looked like that.
i pulled a main and a rod cap and both those look fine.
and the car makes good oil pressure... I mean.. if i put it together and start it and have low oil pressure (which i don't know why i would since it was good to go before this) it's not like i don't have 3 months to get the motor back out while the 408 is being built lol
another option is drop it off at the machine shop and have it stroked... but even that... that's a 2 month wait at minimum.

Continue build as planned. Put it together. If it has an issue or makes bad oil pressure then it is what it is... I'd be waiting 3 months anyway for a motor.
In the meantime. Find a decent 250-350 dollar 6.0. Have ics (local builder) build that this fall into a 408. I can get a gen 3 6.0 block and skip needing all the special conversion stuff. That's about 4 grand to do. And then look into heads and stuff.
I know my motor doesnt smoke. And it makes good oil pressure. Theres no reason to think it wont be ok with just this new cam
I have the PRC As-Cast with 60cc chambers. They flow well enough that the cam and heads are outflowing a FAST 92. Id doubt you would need ported heads so that would save a few pennies anyways.

I think the plan for the next motor is a forged 6.0 stroker and I'll figure out heads and intake from there.

I know boost is fun but I like being na
Yep Im NA. 383 forged lower with said heads with 60cc chambers and torquer V2. With the FAST 92 its running out of breath at 5800. But putting 480s to the tire. That is an OE T56 and 3:42 rears. With your rear gear setup itd be awesome. I NEED the 102 but aint droppin the money on anything else. It is what it is at this point.

The local ls builder can build forge and stroke my ls1 for 4 grand or so. That's an option.
but I'm thinking having him build me a 408 is where it's at
