Some guys get embarrassed but I mean... we all start somewhere.
I've never done this on an LS before. and guys that give people a hard time usually pay shops to do their work lol.
I won't lie, when i thought this was the clutch i legit considered how much it would be to have a shop pull it and redo it... but then i was like... This is my project car. and i've turned every nut and bolt on this thing... No reason to change that now.
new pushrods are on the way. Should be here tomorrow. Then hopefully i can wrap this thing up and get it ready for the tune! Not gonna lie... once i found out this was a pushrod length issue and not a clutch issue my stress level dropped DRAMATICALLY lol. I really didn't want to pull that trans again haha.

Agreed 100%. Turning your own wrenches is very satisfying.
There are those days you want to jump out a window, but once you solve the issue - all is good!
Ya i try and be honest with my mistakes. Nothing drives me more crazy than when people defend something because it's what they have lol.
Also, found out the heads are off an 06 CTSV. so they're off an LS2. so they don't have the sodium filled valves. no big deal. Still an upgrade from stock ls1 heads
New pushrods are out for delivery. so i'll toss those in today and hopefully have a fully running/functioning car!!!! now i just have to get the stupid clutch inspection plate back in haha... sigh... that's gonna suck (have to pull mid pipe and hang the headers lower to get it in...
I'm so tempted to cut it in half so i can get it in without pulling them lol.

If you are anything like me, youll probably regret later not putting it back in one piece.

HAHA ya i know me... and I'll go down and be all like "f it i'm just going to cut it in half" and i'll get under it and go "sack up Ry and get this thing done" lol
My fear is damage from driving it with it ticking like it was. Have you pulled the valley cover or oil to see if there may be any damage to the cam or anything else?

No not yet. This whole time I thought I was chasing pushrod length issues. Intake is probably the next step and then heads. I know if there's an issue it doesn't take long to fubar the cam. But I don't think I hurt it yet. I do think I may have messed up the lifters. Or they were always messed up. Hqrd to say... i may run down and pull the intake now lol
Ok. Next check your oil and plug to be sure a bearing hasnt failed completely also. Did you say one of the rockers was loose when you pulled your valve covers?

They all have lash when on base lobe. But when I step up from a 7.300 to a 7.350 it compresses the valve spring.
So either they're all stuck or i dunno. Everything points to lifters. I ordered some ls7 lifters and trays
I meant loose as in no tension on the push rod. Floppy with your finger. If you are changing lifters I dont think LS7 is best but they will work if set up right.
The youtube video feom Scruff’s Garage shows how to make a solid lifter and how to measure for zero lash woth your tool on base circle. Then based on what the lifter manufactures recommendations for preload you add that length to the checker length and get your pushrod length if I remember correctly
