still not sure what happened. Tune was going great. tuner came over and did a base tune. got it running/driving awesome. we put like 40 miles on it. no issues.
Took it home, put the wide band in it, and went to do the fuel enrichment. did a whole bunch of 3rd gear pulls and everything was great. he touched up a couple things but it was ripping! we were headed home and i did one last 3rd gear pull before my exit and KABOOM.
put a hole behind the starter in the block. I have a couple theories. One is that the timing chain broke. I say that because when i had the lifter issue i kissed a valve... I'm wondering if i hurt the timing chain...
2nd theory is i didn't tq/degree the rod cap correctly when i checked the bearings. I really wish i had noted which cylinder i pulled. I can't remember.
in the end same result. looking for a motor. I'm not upset. this is part of it. I may look for an early LS2 with the correct reluctor wheel. That's the way i'm leaning unless i come accross something built that i have to have lol.
Why LS2 over LS3? LS3 had the longer shelf life so more parts availability and i believe more torque but i guess that is all based on what came you use.

Theyre just readily available and the early ones also have the correct reluctor wheel.
Contemplating just doing something like this. Complete top to bottom. Already broken in on the dyno. Warranty haha. And 530 hp
Gotcha, and damn that's a deal for an engine ready to go.
I called Texas speed and it was like 8k for a forged 408 with their ported heads. And I still had to use my cam kit and oil pump and everything
That 408 had more potential but this would be drop in and go essentially I mean. I'd still have to make sure that pan would work and I'd have some adapters to get but i wouldn't have to open the motor
I was going back through the thread and couldn't find what tire sizes you are using. I have the same wheels and yours fill the wheel well much better. I have 265/35/18 F and 295/30/19 rear.
Also how did you match the center caps so well to the wheels?

I'm running the same fronts but i have a 305/30/19 out back.
I'm seeing drop out LS3's for like 4kish... Not sure what my plan is yet... right now it's just looking... but in my messed up brain. 4k for 430 hp vs 7200 for 530... i tend to go with the 530 hp lol

Pretty sure you will have to use the C5 batwing pan for the C5. Also if it is a long block from Texas Speed do they not include the cam installed?? If you reuse your oil pump, Id advise taking it apart and checking it first to be sure it isnt scared up. My thoughts are if you had no knocking or anything and then boom lost the block, that maybe a head bolt/inner longer starter bolt popped or cracked it (the block) and then after heating up it let go?
You have a lot of parts in that engine you should be able to sell. Mostly for cheap that the customer can have checked out but money is money.
Man I'm really sorry to see this. Really thought you had made it over the hump and issues. Best of luck with finding a "no replacement for displacement" engine.

Sorry to see this happen......Good luck with the upcoming motor
So i found an LS6 with trickflow heads and an underdrive pulley with 45k miles for 2200 bucks. It's 4.5 hours away but i'm going to go grab that saturday.

I'll breathe easier when it's in my garage lol. But this guy seems legit. Grabbing some headers with it too... i don't really need them but they're super cheap. One of my buddies will need them.
It's hard to argue the Speedway motors option but $2200 for a 45k mi LS6 with heads is a deal you can't pass on. Hopefully it's everything you think it will be.
Pick up a Dorman LS2 intake and port it, LS2 silver blade TB, LS3/7 card MAF with a stock LS3/7 intake tube. Stock LS3/7 intake tube made more power than my LS6 MAF/Halltech intake combo. Porting the Dorman LS2 was worth 11hp/6tq
...it's fun to spend other people's money.
