Interesting subject lithium batteries......Is anyone making them specifically for automotive use, besides the electric cars? It seems they would outlast any other type. I still have the original TPMS sensors in my 2000 C5, and they're working fine!! Can't believe it myself. So I'm assuming they're lithium. But lithium batteries the size of OEM are probably cost prohibitive, maybe $500+? 🤔

Here is a lithium battery for our Corvettes. Big bucks
Afaik lithium batteries suffer from much higher internal resistance than lead acid, so they don't make for good starter batteries that need to deliver high amps in a short time to turn a combustion engine. Maybe they'll supplement lithium cells with supercaps eventually.
There are a few companies making automotive lithium. Antigravity is one, Braille is another. Heard good things about both.
Limitless Lithium is another company that makes them mainly for use as car audio supplements, but I have friends with huge systems using them to run the whole car.
Optima batteries come in three flavors. Red for start up. Blue for deep cycle storage use. Yellow the best of both worlds but more expensive. Good for start and acts like a deep cycle. Lots of reserve power.

I have an Antigravity XP-1 https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...o-starts/xp-1/
It would jump start a vehicle for the first year or so. Since then it's only useful as a power bank to run laptops, recharge phones, etc.
They claim this one will fit all the C5 models- https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...tive/ag-75-rs/
It does have a 5 year warranty but at 3-4 times the cost of an AGM I don't see much of a reason to buy one. Maybe if weight savings is important?

If you're into cheap weight savings, you can get an AGM motorcycle battery with enough CCA. You just won't have as much reserve power, such as if you listen to the stereo with the engine off.
There have been threads on this in this forum in the past if you do a search.
when picking up my new(to me) '02 ZO6 this week I did confirm the battery installed is a 6 month old Delco AGM, hopefully I will be set for quite some time

As fussy as our cars are, I don't think it would be prudent to experiment with motorcycle batteries in the C5. I'm reasonably sure you were making a hypothetical situation statement. I think I'm going to do the search anyway, because if this could possibly work, well.......

I do get what you're saying - but look at those little Li Ion "jumper battery" things.
I bought one thru a Amazon "Lightning Deal" and about a year later - I got to actually try it out. I successfully jumped my LS3 Vette with it. I was actually quite impressed that a battery that's about the size of two cigarette packs could start a big V-8.
As far as my experience with AGM's goes - Years ago - I used to be a big fan of the (red top) Optimas. But then their quality seems to have gone downhill. My first Optima lasted about 7 years - it's replacement lasted about half that. Another I had installed did even worse. I still believe in the AGM technology - but I'm now using Deka (East Penn) - they are available thru a number of places - including NAPA (Deka makes the NAPA branded AGM batteries). I haven't had one long enough to tell for sure - but so far - so good. YMMV....
