The GN, no it isn't stock. But it matches the level of mods most import guys who want to come play have. Keep in mind the 3.8 is total dog of a motor in N/A state. The stock intake ports only flow about 156-160cfm. Sure they used this motor to run Indy, but it is nothing special. Just like many of the import motors out there. It just if you put enough boost in anything it will make more power.

GN1's ported by Lump
3.8 bored .020 over
JE Pistons
Stock Rods
ARP fasteners
Loveridge Girdle
Terry Houston Down Pipe
TA64e with fast spool housing
BGC Intake
Accufab Throttle Body
CAS V2 Front Mount Intercooler
CAS Radiator
ATR S/S Headers
ATR RP309G Hyd Roller Cam
Prescision 4000 Stall O-Pump Turbine
72lb inj
8 position thumbwheel chip
And everything coated by Polydyn....

The head flow enough to produce ~700HP @ 21psi. I'll be happy with mid 500's at 18psi on pump gas...But it is a thumbwheel car, so it doesn't have 02s. My only limit will be the head gaskets. So with some VP Air Race blend (123 Octane) we may try some 25-27psi passes...

If you're in Houston, let me know where... As for Lawrence, I'm sure you beat one of his Customer's cars that he was working on. His personal cars are/were:

"BLACK" Our Lo-10 second 1986 Buick GN
"ZR-WHAT" Janace's Lo-11 second 1987 T-Type grocery getter.
"Z" Janace's Lo-13 second 1996 Z-28 Camaro.
"BLACK MAGIC" Our 1990 11 second "Syclone" truck
"SPOOKY" Travis & Beverly Beckendorff's mid 9 second GN
"TWEAKED" Our 1983 Single Turbo Buick Regal [7.75 @ 178.96]
"TWEAKED II" Our 1994 Twin-Turbo Pro-Street Camaro [7.04 @ 202.47]

All of which are way out front of your posted times. You just let me know when you want to be out at HRP...

I really dont think that anybody on this forum cares about a MR2 besides YOU, let alone thinks its better than a Z06! And if you want a video go to NoMercy's web site, he has a 9.9 at 144MPH!
This is what you should do! :leaving:

Some of you people make me sick to even own a Corvette...

turismo22003 - You need to go play GT3 some more...you seem like you honestly don't know a lot about cars and just talk about what you've seen or heard..

You people calling the guys car junk and whatever is bullpoopie..I'd love to see it when he pulled up beside you and blew your doors off...He said it kills Z06s...he never said it looked better...I'd bet that car would lay the smack down on most stock Z06s on the street...You people need to open your eyes and realize you don't own the fastest cars on earth..

Oh and one last thing. I know, what else could I possibly want to say. well, even though the LS1/LS6 is only a lowly naturally apsirated motor I thought this fact might interest you...

Al Corda just made the first ever 9 sec. pass in Stock Eliminator at a national event with his 2002 Firebird. The car went 9.974 @ 132 MPH in the first round of qualifying at the Winternationals at Pomona in the new fuel injected class - A/FIA. This is the fastest actual run ever recorded by a stock eliminator car of any kind.Just to give you an idea of what the limitations in stock eliminator are. Stock engine with max .070 overbore, stock replacement rod allowed, stk crank, stk oil pan and pump, stk replacement piston with stk dimension rings, unported heads, stk valve size, stock lift cam (.500), unmodified manifold and t.b., any header and management system.
GM 3sp auto, any converter, 12 bolt diff, any gear, stock suspension with bolt on traction device, 9" wide by 30" tall slick, stock interior (minus back seat).

Again, as for racing you. Let me know when you're planning on being at HRP. I live 5 minutes away from the track...

I never stated the mr2 was a better performer than the Z06, though personally I believe it holds it's own against one. I know stock for stock the Z06 is a superior car, probably the best bang for the buck. But you guys need to open your eyes and realize that there are cars worthy of recognition.

Like I've said all along in this (long) thread: I respect and appreciate all cars. I do my best to state the facts, leaving out opinion. The MR2 race car (MR-S) is a nice looking car, and I believe it won its class last season. A lot of this dialogue was DSM/MR2 vs. C5/Z06/C5R/GN and other larger displacement cars. That's not comparing apples to apples. The smaller displacement cars don't compete with the larger displacement cars with similar technologies. Again, we're talking adding turbos, S/C, and so on. Physics/cubes win. As J-Rod shows above, even N/A bigger cube cars are very, very fast. You can make a 4 go very fast with an extremely lightweight frame (examples: 70's Can Am cars and, Motorcycles).

I think we (C5/Z06 owners) have shown we appreciate other cars. We hope you appreciate ours.

Like I said before, the Z06 is the best bang for the buck. Compared top the likes of Porsch, Ferrari, Lambo. the Zo6 is right up there.

IT'S STILL A RICE BURNING PEICE OF JUNK. AND IT'S BUILT NON UNION.
BY THE ONLY NATION TO EVER ATTACK AMERICA, SO KEEP IT.
HOPE THE RICE BURNER BLOWS A ROD!
Your only insult to foreign cars is that they're "RICE BURNING PIECES OF JUNK." Gee, I guess that's why their reliability is so good. And Japan is the ONLY country to attack America? LOL, you are clueless. Would you buy a Dodge? You know they're German owned, and they attacked America. What about a Ferrari? The Italians fought us before too. You know that alot of the stuff you buy was made in China? They've attacked Americans on several occasion. Oh BTW, unions tend to hurt the quality of a company's product, so that's a downside.

What is with you and this they attacked the Americans crap?... Yeah Japan attacked us is that suppose to make them smart or mighty? Last time I checked my history book we nuked there behind for it.

Dont understand how this thread has taken so many twists.

Your MR2 or whatever car stock for stock will never compair with the C5 Vette or the ZO6. Speed, braking, cornering. Period. So please enough with it!

Yes you can make your import very fast no doubt at all. Someone just posted a link of a 1100HP Cavilier that car has a 4-banger as well and it's American made.

No matter how fast you make your 4 or 6 banger you will NEVER have the potential that a V8 has. Please tell me you understand this!

:iagree: Cant we just end this pointless conversation? As stated you can make any car fast not just a MR2 or a Vett. I mean heck i downloaded a video of a old van with the wood paneling on the outside and everything running 12.7sec in the 1/4! What were all saying is stock for stock the vett will win! And please dont go off saying how much less a MR2 is than a vett, because it's the same thing on down the line, "i have a Enzo" "Yea well i could put $600,000 in my vette and it would destroy your enzo" See it's all pointless. :boxing
