Also, I can't believe in that one video that the corvette owner let that guy punk him like that; if someone said they were going to "take my money again from my daddy's corvette" I'd tell him to go F\/ck himself! Punk.
I think dry weight of the 3rd gen RX is about 2850 compared to about 3250 for a C5 vert. Stock the RX was 255 hp and 217 tq and ran about a 14.0 1/4 mile. 98 C5 vert was 13.3-13.7 with 345hp and 350 tq.
I also loved the looks and performance of the 93-95 RX7's, and was my original choice when I started looking for a replacement adrenaline fix.
But as others have stated, it became clear that finding a clean, reliable, low mileage example was futile. Somehow I ended up over here, and I'm quite content with my final selection!
I love any high performance car, and I had a couple of Rx7's. Some of these cars can fool you and spank an unsuspecting C5. If you take them lightly, you may be viewing their tail lights before you know it.
Stock to stock, you can take them on brute HP, but if he put some mods on the Rx7 and you're running stock, don't bet the pink slip...
She's lighter than the C5 and cranking as much or more HP.
"The biggest problem with those cars was reliability."
OMG!!! I just watched the vid of the guys going 160!!! Holy **** thaose guys are NUTS and would kill ANYONE they got in a wreck with - they should have their ASSES kicked for that ****!
If your talking about the Rx7 going through the tunnel, its not 160 mph, its 190mph, he went past the speedo stock(180mph) and hit the limit a couple of times.

Yes I was talking about the rx7, but really both of them. The vette's speedo said 160, and they should both be beaten, then shot, beaten, then shot, repeat.

My daughter has a 93 RX7. She is only 15 yrs old and can't drive it yet, but my 21 y/o son does. Before this weekend it was an A4 now it is an M5. Redline is 8000rpm and cutoff is 8500rpm. Specs as stated above 255 crank hp and 217 crank torque. Curb weight is 3278. 0-60 5.8 secs as an automatic, 5.4 as a stick. I worked on the conversion with them for three days and spent a lot of time under the car while it was up on the lift. I have also spent a lot of time under my FRC on the lift. The RX7 is built very much like a C5 underneath. All the suspension is very similar, the steering rack is almost identical, and the way the under motor crossmember is made and attached was like deja vu. I am quite impressed with this car. It only has a 1300cc motor and ranks out 255hp and gets great gas mileage. It is also a terror on autocross. The only thing I don't like about the car is the factory twin-turbo vacuum switch banks. Very complicated. Also, the exhaust system is WAY overdesigned. I'll bet you could pick up an extra 20hp with a cleaner exhaust.
If his car is mildly modded considering it's weight you will take him by at least .5 second. I've raced my son at the track and it was no contest, however I've got 4:10's and all the bolt on's. My 0-60 is 3.8 secs with my DR's and a good burnout.
If the guys got 400 hp you can figure out how fast his car is by the numbers I posted. I don't know your mods but you can figure out how much power you'll need.
