When I was on the east coast I would always have my wave returned. Now that I am in AZ I have yet to have a wave returned. Been here since September. It seems like I get a look like I am some kind of stalker or something. Makes me feel like I'm the main character in, "The Twilight Zone." Whats wrong with these people?
hey, I still wave....and Ive been stuck in this damn dodge ram since November....some people catch on when they see the front plate with the crossed flags, or my vanity plate "MS MY VET" but most just think Im an idiot
(C1 and C2 owners are almost always true enthusiasts)
Seems like the only waves I get are from C1s, C2s and other C5s. I know I'm going to get in trouble for this, but here are some reasons why some people don't wave:
1. Just didn't see you in time.
2. Caught in the middle of a shift. (No excuse for me, I have an A4.)
3. Got tired of others not waving and decided to let you initate, then waited to long.
4. Caught them wiping their drool from admiring your Vette.
I can't think of a single reason why someone going the same direction wouldn't wave. No one told me about the wave when I first bought my Vette. I learned about it on the streets when others waved to me. I thought it was the only polite thing to do to wave back. BTW, I initiated and got a return wave from the only Vette I saw today, a C5 also.
maybe is wasn't his vette....it's kind of annoying but i TRY not 2 sweat it 2 hard....most of the people around here wave..the other day i was next 2 a red c5 coupe...it was near impossible 4 him not 2 see my vette... tried 2 wave...he didn't look...also looked like he'd taken the vette off roading...it was filthy..i mean dirty like it hadn't been washed since november...amazingly i saw the same guy the next day...he hadn't washed his vette..

my car has to be clean as much as possible other wise im too embarassed to drive it.
of all the new Corvette releases, IMO the C6 seems to be attracting more non-enthusiasts than any new style release ever before.
So, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of this behavior in the near future
I kinda remember seeing this trend when the C5 first came out. I think what generally happens is that the non-enthusiasts only keep the cars for a couple of years then move on to their next new toy. Eventually the cars start falling into the hands of those that really love them. This is just a hypothesis of mine, but in 2003 for example the C5 was 6 years old. Those who aren't particularly into vettes by this time may have considered them yesterday's model, while we still drool as much as when the model debuted in 97. I bet in 4 years, the C6 owners will be indistinguishible from the "rest of us"

.. I drove through sarasota today with a giant puddle splash mark running down the side of my car from front wheel to behind back wheel .. apparently I hit a puddle at a high speed?
and it was one of those muddy puddles, because there were was crud sticking outwards a good 1/4" from the paint.
