Default Is 100% coolent OK

I did the 170 thermostat mode and flushed all the old coolent out of car.
Replaced with pure coolent. What if any are the props or cons. Or should I have gone 50/50

Thanks
sam

COOLANT and no. 100% coolant is not desirable. In order for it to work as designed it must be 50/50, mixed with distilled water. You can buy it from the grocery store for $2 a gallon or risk thousands of dollars in repairs later.

NOOO! Antifreeze is really only good at preventing freezing, boiling and corrosion, but not that good at cooling. If cooling is your primary goal, then a high ratio of distilled water with a bottle of Water Wetter is best, but you're probably better off (safer) with a 50/50 split of antifreeze and distilled water.

with leaftye...50/50 mix with 2 bottles of Waterwetter and you'll see big difference in temp ratings! Waterwetter will help with the "hot pockets" within the cooling system and lower you temps anywhere from 20 to 30 degrees os so. I have used Waterwetter on all of my vehicles and just adding to existing mix will be an improvement in lowering temps. Try it, you might like it!

I'm with you on the 50/50 mix, but I have my reservations about Water Wetter...

Carefully clean your radiator drain and then drain and keep the coolant you drain, distilled water is cheap at Wally World.

WOW did you just get off the boat. You never run 100 % antifreeze. That has been the pattern for many many years. Is this the first car you have driven or owned? 50/50 mix is the best protection.

DID YOU USE DEXCOOL??? I hope you didnt use the green stuff!! 100% strength is very bad for cooling your engine!!! The antifreeze additive is just that. It is designed to mix with water. The water is what provides the cooling. If you could run 100% water that would be better but, you need the antifreeze to increase the boiling point of the water in summner and decrease the freezing point in the winter. I doubt if you harmed anything but you need to dilute it with distilled water.

In different areas of the country, and different brands there are differences between anti freeze and coolant. Many companies put out coolant that is ready right out of the bottle whereas antifreeze needs to be mixed with h2o. Read the instuctions on the label.

Another issue is you can blow seals (waterpump, etc.) by running pure coolant. It's thicker than a 50/50 mix, and will cause the water pump to run at higher pressures internally.
