Phil why would some one do a 397 stroker rather then this package? It looks like the cost are about the same.

I have now driven the car 355 miles. I drive the car until it snows here in Ohio; about 7-months maybe. My goal was to take the used 1998 C5 with 40K mild abuse on it and create a platform that I can modify its entire life and enjoy daily w/o having to call a tow truck to come pick me up on the side of the road or having to jack around with emission *****. After researching, as best as I could with my limited knowledge, I felt a new LS2 with its strong internals would be a GREAT option as the engine would be a stock fit and look (with minor modifications – mainly electrical connections), and would support this upgrade and the future blower I will put on it. After all, who wants to stop modifying their car? The car is smooth as silk under power with torque ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE POWER BAND. At idle there is just enough lope to give the competition pause & not spill the milk. The power band in toto is great, but from 70 MPH to 130 MPH it is super. And, I got 30 MPG on the interstate! From my understanding the components used by Dynotech are quality and Phil and his shop have a good reputation. If I have made a mistake, with this logic, then I would make it again. All I can say is Phil and his shop provided me with great service and kept me updated and accepted every request I made as respects to work on my car. The great thing about DTE is that the do not operate in a box. DTE will work with their costumers and will not confine their customers to only a few options. However, this set-up is a really nice workable option that Phil has now standardized which should help keep costs down. In short, I feel this is a great way for the C5 to be born again and to continue to GO STRONG!

Wow, this sounds just like the setup I was hoping for I was trying to build one on my own but with my feeble knowledge it was getting hopeless. I do not want a car that shakes or screams out "I WANT TO RACE!" I was looking for something that would be civilized enough to drive to the coast with but strong enough to have some fun on a daily basis without reving to high heaven I will start saving my pennies

Thanks

Pete

I have modded my car once and now I feel it a bit too busy to drive with big cam ...
This is a good news to see more and more people dropping C6's engine in C5.
I will wait couple more years and get new LS7.

The C6's we've seen here typically fall between 340-350 RWP on both sides as an average.

I am simply giddy over this. With any type of cam you should be able to have 125 MORE RWHP then a c-6! Phil what do you expect the new Z-06's to dyno right out of the box?

Not sure, but I would guess somewhere in the 430-445 RWP range if the General's power claims are accurate.

This Spring I had DTE install a cam package, headers, and a Stage II+ differential w/lower gears on my '04 A4. I could not be happier with the quality of the work or the professionalism of everyone at DTE.

Phil spent quite a bit of time with me helping decide what was best based on my needs. When I got there (drove 300 miles to drop the car off) they showed me the shop. The "clean" section (where they do engine work) was immaculate, and the section where the do the differential / gear work (presumably the "dirty" side) was cleaner and more organized than most shops that I have been in. There were quite a few really nice high-HP cars in there for work as well.

I was emailed detailed pictures of the progress and given explanations about everything. When I picked the car up everything was perfect. Haven't had problems at all since (put 2K miles on it since then). BTW, the car rocks. It is amazingly fast and powerful now. Tons of torque everywhere in the powerband.

I personally have no doubts about their ability to do excellent work and would recommend them on that alone. The fact that that they are fair and treat their customers very well is icing on the cake.

FWIW.

Just spoke with the owner of the car. He seemed very pleased with his new ride. He kept mentioning how with the ls2, he would have the ability to take this car to a killer NA car down the road if he desired.

If we ever get our CD-burner to work back there on the chassis dyno PC, we'll get the power graphs posted here for this. Technology is frustrating sometimes.....

I am still very curious of how the low RPM TQ of this H/C LS2 compares to the LOW RPM TQ curve of a stroker. Does the TQ curve rise as quick with this LS2 H/C package, even though it has less displacement then a stroker?

I wonder how from a cost perspective, a ls7 motor with no add ons would compare in price to this ls2 with the work Phil has done on it?

I find that amusing. I had just the opposite experience. I emailed them a couple of times and I couldn't decide if I would be better of with a SC or a head and cam package. Only response I ever got was that a description of each package was on their web site.

They refused to discuss what would be best for me. I gave up on them and would never consider having them do any work for me. None of us can be experts on everything and need advice from professionals. They wouldn't help me.

Maybe they knew about your crappy attitude on the forum.
