My advice to you is to stay away from a SC for a DD, and look at a mild cam and AFR heads, and some 3:73's, and a 2800 TQ convertor. You would have a very streetable 425-450 RWHP that would be a rocket ship.

If you want to chat some time PM me your phone number and I'll call you.
Damn. I am NOT knocking DTE. I just said they wouldn't give me any advice. If he hadn't said that was a farce and implied I was not telling the truth that would have been it. It's obvious to all they do quality work. I was just surprised that they gave this guy advice and posted my experience with them.

Edit: I just pulled this from their web site.

Default Dyno Graph

Dyno graph added here and in the original post.

The graph would have been posted in the original text/post sooner, but we had a CD burner failure on the chassis dyno PC, for which we just repaired today.

FYI- I will be stepping away from the office in a couple of hours for a business trip and will not return until Wed. morning. I'll answer any questions then. Happy motoring!

Best Regards,
Phil- DTE

Why have the mods allowed this thread to be hijacked? Posting emails, etc.. This is nuts - take it to PM's.

I agree with you Mark...it's B.S. but it definately defines one's character though doesn't it? Oh well...on goes life

Bump before I leave and hopefully the mods can/will keep this thread on track.

Or your lack of! Character that is. Call it a farce and I'm lying. Don't know anybody that would roll over on that one.

I had suggested the matter be dropped but you and some of the boys want to keep it going.

Enough already...you haven "proven" yourself. Now can we all please just get back to the original thread

Hey Phil, how much more power do you think you could get out of it by substituting the airbox with a new Vararam?

AFR heads. Dipped into it a little today and good thing the traction control was on. MPH around town 17.5 MPH. Rechecked INST MPH on interstate during week and fluctuated between 23-27 MPH. Bottom line, who cares. It is fast. I like boatboatboat's 0-90 idea. Probably will go for the gear change soon also.

I have taken 3-4 long (1000 mile plus) road trips, and everytime I check the actual MPG vs what the DIC says, my actual is 4-5 mpg LESS, then what the DIC says.

What were Phils instructions for break in? Did he suggest 500 miles like when you buy a c-5 new? Also when did he suggest the first oil change?

If I new a ls7 could be dropped in for 13k, I would go that route. I know your ls2 package has more ***** then a stock ls7, but YIKES a 427, would just be an animal if down the road you dropped a cam and afrs, into it. I also considered having Phil drop a longer crank into the ls2 to make it a 402, but that would add almost 2k to the price.

I was slatted to get a stroker package July 5th, and need to make up my mind this next week.

If I could sell my stock exhaust for $3500.oo it would make my choice alot easier.

You wanna buy a stock exhaust for 3500 dollars?

500 break-in miles. Phil has already changed oil twice. I will change again at 3K to synthetic as per Phil's instructions. I have GHL exhaust on order (5" high-flow muffs). Phil did mention I could just drop in a stroker crank the the engine would plug & Play as a 402. I am happy now and will enjoy for a couple of years.

I have GHL's, you will like them. So Phil went with regular oil during the break in? and has already changed it twice.

I looked at the dyno Phil got scanned and posted. The TQ looks to be right there, from the start. I really want to take a ride in your car this next week.

Well prior to this package by phil I was slated to get a DTE H/C package on 7-5, with the cam and heads being done in such a fashion to be ready for me to have the car stroked to a 3:83 next spring.

Then this ls2 package came out........which gave me another option to consider. Then 5 days latter the ls7 pricing hit the streets.

I have given this ALOT of thought, and have come to the conclusion, as a result of Phils advice that the LS2 with a somewhat agressive Cam is my best option. I am seeking a very TQy car, that still retains streetability.

I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I would be replacing the engine in a 2004 car with 18k miles on it , I place the blame on THIS PLACE!!!!!........

Your *really* going to have fun and be all smiles when it's complete, as all of our customers do when they take delivery of a performance engine upgrade we build for them.

Best Regards,

20 bucks says I put this thing into a light pole or into a ditch by Sept 1st.

You almost have me talked into doing headers.........how much TQ is being left on the table by NOT doing headers?

has anyone ever done a study on which headers create the least noise?

How much of the package price is assembly and installation?

Will you be offering a self install kit?

Looks like a sweet setup, would love to see a stroker version.

BTW, I called Phil a few months ago, he promptly returned my call and spoke to me for 30 minutes about a gear swap. So a 30 minute conversation cost me $.08 for leaving the voice mail.

Well, to un-hijack the thread:

I see you installed a forged crank. What if said forged crank happened to have a slightly longer stroke?

How much more would it run to build a 402 stroker out of this instead?

I am actually very interested in seeing how this LS2-based power works out. Like 1bad, I am not intersted in building the end-all-be-all high-powered car. I prefer my car to have some civility retained which is what DTE seems to have accomplished and 1bad seems extremely happy with the result.

Now, if we could up that HP to around 475-500 rwhp without losing the driveablity, I'd be mighty interested.
