"I see you installed a forged crank"

Where did you see that?

I am interested in a 402 version on your setup. When my 50K heads cam motor (only 6k with the 232-236 600 lift cam) gives out I am looking at the LS7 or a stoked LS2. If I can get a stroker for around 13k installed versus 16k for the LS7, I would go stroker. A 402 should make around 450rwhp with a smallish cam and be very streetable. I make ~400 rwhp and ~400rwtq now and love my setup but I think a 402 with a little better top end but a much better toque curve would put me in the 10's easy!

I am starting to pray my motor gives out so I can go bigger. email me at cscollis@swbell.net if you dont want to post the price on here!

Exactly!

DTE and more specifically Phil have never been anything but helpful to me. I've talked to and received advice on a number of things from Phil, on the phone and the net, and they've done some small work for me.

In the grand scheme of things, DTE accounts for probably $3,000 worth of stuff I've bought/installed, which is barely worth mentioning in this game. The fact that they've been helpful and gone out of their way to answer and address any questions I've had, even though the bulk of my work was done elsewhere says alot.

I wouldn't hesitate to get major work done at DTE's immaculate shop...

We're uncertain of the final cost of the package with a longer-stroke crankshaft, nor of the final power output, as we've not tested/engineered that combination yet.

Someone asked/stated......
- that we "added a stroker crank"?? There was no increased stroke crank added in this package; the engine's lower end was stock.

- if we offer an DIY "kit"?? No, this is an in-house installation only and the costs are wrapped into the package as a whole.

- Emissions?? Our package confines to current Federal EPA Tier 1, (FTP75) standards. You must check with your own State for compliance if they require over this.

Umrswimr- We thank you for "un-hijacking" this thread.

DTE

Whooops. I saw 98stocker's quote:

1997-2003 LS1 & LS6 Corvette
383 Engine Package (Naturally Aspirated)
506 BHP/495 BTQ LS1*
544 BHP/529 BTQ LS6*

Performance Upgrade Package Includes:

Complete engine removal, inspection and disassembly
Performance internal/external cylinder case preparation
JE forged, lightweight aluminum pistons
Plasma moly piston rings
Lunati 4340 steel connecting rods
Lunati 4340 steel crankshaft
And went retarded. :o :o

I would still be interested in what DTE could put together as a stroker kit.

Default Update @ 1300 miles

Running like a top. I am getting 30+ AVE MPH on just hwy driving. 16.5 in city with fairly hard driving. Have eaten some rice burners and stangs for lunch. Even though my other car is a Pontiac GTP, I had little respect for the GrandAm attempting to challenge me last night. Happy 4th to everyone.

So, this poor guy broke his diff case which is a known issue on these cars, and in the process ruined some 4.10 gears that DTE would not warranty (duh) and you want to try and use this thread to bring a bad light on the vendor

Well the car has been dropped off at DTE. I now only have to wait, and find a way to raise the $ to pay for this.

I may be forced to sell my stock exhaust to raise funds........

To keep the sound down, I have decided to go with no headers. I am very curious with this restriction, on what type of TQ #'s, Phil is able to obtain.

BTW I know you take alot of pride in the fact that you test and re-test every car you work on. Driving it every Am and PM to get two cold starts per day, and sometimes you do this for 10 straight days AFTER the work is done, in an effort to get the tuning 100%. That is all good and well (and in fact un-heard of in your bizz), but I just want to let you know it's ok with me, if you only test the line lock one time , two at the most............

(I knew I should have measured the tread prior to dropping off)

10 days is a bit much, but done if needed....

BTW- I'll let you test the line-lock function..... I have no desire to "test" how it works on someone else's car....doesn't interest me. Heck, I typically get 6,000 more miles out of my tires than what the tire manufacturer claims possible!!!

Phil- DTE

Default Offsetting cost of LS2 pkg

If I'm reading all this correctly, it appears that all, or practically all, of the stock LS1 is being pulled and its parts are not reused as part of this conversion. If this is correct, selling the original engine may greatly reduce the pain.... Hence the question: does anyone have a feel for what the LS1 would be worth to, e.g., a street rodder? Or just another C5er who blew up his engine on nitrous ? This may make this package even more attractive, as it won't be a cobbled-together combination of new and used parts.

I was able to sell my 2004 LS1 with 18.5 miles for $3500.00. It will cost me about 200 dollars to ship it to the buyer. IMO I could have gotten more for the motor. I am starting to wonder of I should have kept it for another project down the road? The motor was perfect.

This package makes the idea of buying a REAL high mileage 97/98 and dropping this ls2 in, look REAL GOOD.

k total with alot of HP, Or you could buy an accourd for the same price

Sounds like a nice package, cant wait to see it with more aggresive cam and heads

That option is still open to you if you wish, as the engine is still here.

Boatboatboat: You got a sec. I have something I sorta want to run by you....

Mrs 3b: Sure hon, what's on your mind.....

3B: well, .......ummmmmm I was thinking, eeeerrrrrr well, see, if I ...... ahhhhhhh kept the engine, that is in the car, rather then selling it, I would have an engine for the old Camaro I was wanting to buy.

Mrs 3b: Huh?

3b: A Camaro, a cool one,.......like my brother used to have.

Mrs 3b: So you are going to sell the Vette and get a Camaro?

3B: ummmmmmmmmmm, well actualy I thought it would be cool to have both.

Mrs 3B: He11 NO!!!!!!

Phil I think it's best if I just sell the engine........., trust me on this.

Default 2100 Miles & running like a top - a real sleeper

Went to first car show last weekend. Everyone was shocked! They had no idea the LS2 was resting comfortably in the engine bay. One guy was going to trade his c5 and buy a c6 eventhough he hates the look of the c6, but after seeing my car, the clean INSTALL and the numbers, he is leaning toward the swap The car is smoking. The torque is eating everyone off the line, but having hard time hooking up the rubber.
