Bicky I was very thorough in the directions you requested from me. You have to unbolt the mounts from the bottom. I believe that was high lighted and quoted in my multiple replies here on the forum as well as through PM. Listen to what we are telling you, it works.
sorry buddy...ill try with unbolting it from the bottom tonight...ill keep you guys posted (i might not be able to work on it tonite because its customer appreciation day at our dealership)...so they want to come in look at the volkswagens on the hoist and not a shiny yellow vette (i have to actually go put the car cover on at about 6)
and if i just unscrew it from the bottom....do i need to tilt it with a 2x4 or do i just raise it with a jack??? if with a 2x4 where do i put it so i don't crack or break anything

Unbolting it from the bottom should give you approximately another inch to inch and a half. I don't think you will need any lumber in your engine compartment as you should now have more than enough room.

Just jumped back in here. Sorry I had to sign off last night so soon. Looks like your continuing to get good advice, including the one about loosening the motor mounts from the bottom.
Hope you got it in. Give us an update.
k gang...im back...they had all the crazzy equipment they use on the cars around my car..my car was parked in a hoist bay...i was told to cover it up yesterday...but they had it parked there like it was the main thing ...i covered it up anyways because i woudln't be there and i don't want people touching stuff especially not the inside (the top is down windows are down)..i never bothered pulling everything out to start on it...lifting it so i can get underneath for 20 mins of trying and then having to put everything back...im going to give it a shot tomorrow now...i can't wait :o
I recall putting in the passenger side was harder than the driver side. The key is to remove both engine mount bolts from below, jack the passenger side of the engine as high as it can go, then use the 2x4 to force her in.

Good luck....
but I wouldn't take the bolts all the way off however. Just loosen them down to the last few threads to the point where they won't fall off either.
And yes, even after you jack the engine up you will need the 2x4 to prize the engine a tad to the driver's side to get the header to go in. Also, careful with the jacking. You do not want to go too high and crack the firewall !!!!!!
You can guage how high you are jacking by placing your index finger between the back part of the intake manifold and the windshield, before you start to jack. Each time you jack, check this area again with a finger or a phillips screwdriver.
Also, if you have not already, disconnect the airbridge at the bellows coupler. This will help too and will give you a feel for how high you are jacking as there will be a step between the bellows and the airbridge which will become greater the higher you jack You can also disconnect at the throttle body and the bellows coupler and be able to get a feel for how high you have jacked based on the discrepance in height between the two as you jack.

As I said unbolt from the bottom, only remove the bolt on the side you are working on, keep the other side as loose as possible without removing the nut. As for needing lumber to install any header, I have installed approximately 10 sets (yes, including KOOKS) and I still have no lumber in my tool box, I never had a need. Remember you are not jacking the motor straight up, you are jacking one side and actually tilting the motor up and away from the side you are working on. You should have no problem.
where do you jack it up from to make the engine go up on a tilt...everytime i jack it it goes pretty much straight up then i try to tilt it with the 2x4

From the oil pan. put something on the jack, like a small piece of wood, hockey puck, rolled up towel, this will prevent damage to the oil pan. Look at the oil pan and determine where the middle is, then jack as far to the right or left of center as possible. Do not jack it from the corner of the pan as this will crack it. Let me have some coffee and i'll stick the jack under my car and post a picture for you.
Bicky, this is looking at the car from the front. First 2 pictures are the jack placed on the oil pan (staged pic NO PROTECTION) and the 3rd. is my LG's AIR delete.
