i just got mines took them to a mufflershop to get a price and he told me these are some of the best headers he's seen he thought they at least cost 1000.00 or more. im just waiting on my hi-flo cats 80.00 new o2 bungs 5.00 and 3''clamps 15.00 then im gonna try to install these myself total price 450.00 cant beat that
one question what kind of gaskets did you guys use? the factory or an aftermarket hi-perf. gasket.
i once used those soft aluminum 2-piece gaskets and they worked pretty good.

I think the rule of thumb is that the OEM gaskets are usually the best. Don't forget the two little air tube gaskets also.

I take it you are referring to the pictures on page 1? SXE60 had those weleded in by RPM Motorsports because the bungs that come in the headers, welded at the 12'o'clock position, require the O2's to be installed prior to installing the headers. Something that was not discovered until more forum members started installing them. The bungs they welded in are at the 3 or 9'o'clock position and seem fine to me. Welding them at a 10 degree angle would be impossible on the car. The new bungs' welds are not the best but I'm sure they were done on the car so they are about as good as you can expect and look very much like the WB O2 bung I had welded into mine.

As they warm up the condensation along with the heat may cause them to crack eventually with enough cold starts. Also, the 02 bung welds look pretty bad to me and it looks as though they were welded on after the headers had been coated. These headers are a copy cat of TPIS & Melrose. Do as you wish, it's your money, but the job you save by buying local may be your own.

5 Liter Eater is correct. The only reason those bungs look shabby is because they were added on after we found out the sensors couldn't be install with the headers bolted up. I hated to screw up the nice clean look of the headers, but I didn't feel like paying to have them removed to install the sensors. The only occassional code I get, after 6 months of use, is from the aft O2 sensors not reading sufficent exhaust change thru the Cats. Sims will cure that.

Got my bid in. You guys have me drooling for a set of these things. Last 2 sets of headers I put in were the pricy, perfect fit kind (mustangs, tho) and neither one fit w/o major massage. The posts y'all have done will make this a piece of cake. Great work- thanks.
Might even get a set for my brother in law.

With all the money you guys saved on these headers can you guys start a collection so that at least one of you can get yourselves a dyno and then post with actual gains.

Thanks in advance from someone who did pay too much for headers way back about 4 yrs ago.

Enjoy em

Matt

The next local Dyno Day, I plan to do mine just to confirm. But really, its the sound and SOP kick you get that make them worth it.

was that with a tune, or just slapping them on?

I am installing my set later this week - and will be getting re-tuned and dyno'd (maybe) next week... Expecting some NICE numbers
