For reducers, the best bet is a local muffler shop that has 2-1/2" SS pipe and a pipe expander that can open one end up to 3". You'll need to decide if you want to go inside or outside of the existing pipes to get the right OD and ID.
I'll try to find it but there was a link somewhere in this thread I think that had a source for the reducers and ball type adapters that make this an easy job. Another source had clamps that were made of sheet SS maybe four inches wide with a clamp that didn't stick out like a regular saddle clamp, making for a much neater installation.
hey lightfighter, did you have any of the issues I had? Are y our o2s touching or almost touching the torque tube? Do the collectors point the right way? How bout the ac line or the primaries hitting the bellhousing/torque tube?
Thanks
Dave
Ok my install is complete now got the mid pipes made today and installed. The install I have to say went pretty easy I did 98% by myself and had no probs at all. I simply followed the directions on the LS1 site. I'm very satisfied with 90% if the fitment of the headers the 10% I'm not pleased with is the PS O2 sensor its straight up to the differential its not removable with the headers bolted. Like everyone else my PS header was higher but it was not a prob at all.
We had a make a very very minor bend in the PS mid pipe other than that everything went crystal smooth. I do have some pics but I had to take them with my phone but I gotta get them to the pc and will post them up.
I amazes me how two different people can install the exact same Headers and have different problems! Do you have the streets or Pros?
The only thing that makes sense to me is subtle variances in assembly at Bowling Green or model year changes that aren't obvous to most of us, like engine mounts or something...
All I know is that every Header system I've ever installed took some work and creativity to get installed...
Have the streets. I was very impressed with the fit, but I also expected it. FWIW, LG's O2 fitment provides excellent clearance; they can be installed with the headers bolted up; they sit farther back (you run a set of rear O2 sensors for the fronts to take advantage of the longer wires), so you want to run the wires above the heat tunnel plate so they don't get burned; that's why they drill the holes. I actually didn't drill any, instead running the wires through the small holes provided by a joint in the sheet metal which attaches the tunnel plate to the car.
I have been unimpressed with the fitment JBA and SLP headers I've had on f-bodies; the hooker longtubes I had in my WS6 bolted up well, but had clearance issues (y-pipe UNDER the floorboards) due to the f-bods poor exhaust design. I have never dealt with the probs you guys seem to be running into, tho (headers against the floorboard or a/c lines). I'm not super experienced, but this is the fourth set of headers I've installed on an LT/LS motor. The JBA / SLPs were off a little at the y-pipe or made for near impossible spark plug install, but neither were so far off I'd have to make major adjustments.
The LGs are the first set I've had go in with so few problems and they tucked under the car very nicely. It was a pita to get them into place (they're a bit longer than what you guys are installing), but once there, everything was perfect.
I did replace LG's pos clamps the summit racing ss clamps, tho

Forgot to mention I have not got my tune done yet it will be done Saturday but right now yes I can defintanly feel a difference and not only can I but my wife says the power is greatly increased. If you stomp it now anywhere in 1st its blowing the tires off till it hits 2nd an just continues to pull.
I also got my SS Band Clamps at a napa dealer for less that $9 each.
But anyways here is the pics I promised sorry for the low quality but I ran off an forgot my camera at home.

Great job! And you have an 02 right? Can't wait to see your pics, and maybe a video/sound clip???? Mine was not very good...
Yea my car is a 02. Its just a piece of 3" exhaust pipe that was expanded a hair to go over the collector and then it extends back to about 2" before the X where it goes into a 2 1/2" piece of pipe that is inside the X pipe that is expanded to accept the 3" pipe. the connections at the X pipe and the collector arfe band clamped and the connection at the 3" to 2 1/2" is welded. This way I can easily undo the hole exhaust by undo the x pipe at the mufflers and the band clamps.
ok I deserved the bellhouse remark its been a long week lol. As far as noise well for normal driving and idle its not to bad but once you get on the mat it gets noisey. We are going to Bowling Green next weekend with the local vette club and I have high hopes of getting some dyanmat in the trunk area before we go. 6 hrs of driving could get annoying and the last thing I want is a ticked off wife complaining about noise of the exhaust after an hour or less.

Thanx for the info!!!
One question about the rear to front O2 sensor swap, do you guys cut off and replace the connectors or what? On mine the front O2s have a flat in-line connector while the rears have a square connector...
