"Unless you drive the car in the winter I would run a 160 stat. I run a 160 in mine. It allows us to run more timing."
LOL! The only thing you should change in a tune with running a lower t-stat are the fan on/off temps. You really do not want to add timing just because of a lower stat...

Well let me rephrase....you CAN add more timing with a 160* t-stat...BUT it's not a good idea at all to add enough to make a difference. By switching to the 160* t-stat you could only bump it 1-2 degress which has no gain. It's best just to adjust the fan settings instead.
guys, the ls1 loves to run warm. More timing doesn't always equal more power. I've got 100s of passes w/ varied timing and ECT and the car made its best passes w/ less timing then it could take and at full operating temp. This is w/ 60' times +/- .05.
Anyone happen to read the new post about the Texas Speed Headers sounds like they have the same 02 placement probs. Hmmm could there be a connection???

Now that's intereting! I'll have to take a look at the TSP Headers. Interestingly enough I was considering those before I came across this thread!
I didn't have an O2 placement prob... did you? I thought Stocker was the odd ball... (sorry Dave! )
I think i may have gotten a set of old ones, I will let you know in a few days for sure. Seems everyone else had these fit up fine.
Dave
SS Autochrome agreed to send Dave another set of Headers on the off chance (they still insist that there was no old stock) that he recieved the old version... Hopefully that's what the problem was.
To the best of my knowledge myself, Stocker (Dave) and RIP1976 have started/completed the install and posted the results... Lightfighter and RainJ should be in the spotlight shortly.
RIP and I, IMO had no problems. Passenger side collector slightly off center but managable.
Stocker possibly recieved the old version by mistake. SS AC sent him a new set to find out. Pretty awesome customer service! Dave when you recieve the new ones can you put the Passengers side by side and take a pic of the collectors?
Well its a chance I may have an old set there is no way you can get my PS o2 out with the headers bolted up otherwise fitment is fine. I ain't bitchin though cause if I ever do have to remove the o2 its no big deal I can undo the header from the exhaust in about 5 minutes and undo it from the head in another 30 or so so its no big deal. All in all I'm very happy and saved over $1000 so what if I lost 3-5hp over the big name brands for the $1000 I saved I can easily gain that back plus more! Heck I'm modifing a Corvette on a Cavalier Budget I will take what I can get. lol
Did you do Dyno pull? Who says we're giving up 3 to 5 HP?
I believe with the first set of Headers you couldn't even get the O2s in there. Maybe it was some did and some couldn't, but I think we're having alot less problems then the pioneers did...
I might see about taking a set to Prediator Performance and have them Fabbed up perfectly, then send em back to SSAC for a redo...
But like you said RIP, I'm damn happy with what I've got!
now all I need to source is the stretch of pipe that reduces from the cats to the Xpipe.
(and 4 hours of free time)
Rain. my 3" pipe extensions were approximately 10" a piece. If you can find a muffler shop to expand one end of those, that'll eliminate one part and a potential leak. I'd say 12" to 13" if you expand one end of the extension pipes...
