Default Traction control button on or off

Does anyone drive with the traction control off, for more power now.
I turned it off in my 98 coupe and could'nt believe the power.

The engine does not make "more power" with TC off, it just doesn't roll back the output when the rear wheels start to spin.

Just be careful. Because usually you are turning off Active Handling with it. Unless you are putting the car into "competitive mode" which turns the traction control off but leaves the active handling on (best of both worlds). I have my car set to automatically go into competitve mode whenever I crank the car (had to use a LAPTRAX module to do that and your car has to have active handling/competitve mode available from the factory).

Trac ctrl on or in 'competitive mode'

I can't count the number of times AH/TC has saved my a$$

30 degree pavement in CT with Goodyear supercar F1's, once you find the 'edge' of traction the car is sliding a bit fast for my comfort

Unless you have a C5 equipped with COMP Mode, all you can do is either turn it OFF or leave it ON! I believe 2000 and up C5's are able to use COMP mode (don't quote me on that implantation date)

If you decide to drive your car with TC in OFF,,,,be very careful and know your car well! There have been toooo many people to count that have wound up in a ditch or in someones yard cause the rear end got out from them.

A very good example of how TC Off will screw you is: Your driving down the a straight two lane road, speed limit is 45, weather is cold (35 deg) and you decide to pass the slow poke in front of you who is doing 35. If you have a MN6, you slap it into second and accelerate hard. If you have an auto, you jab the gas and she kicks down hard. The Tac screams up and the wheels break loose. You don't realize that your in a loss of traction situation and you turn the wheel to pass the car. In the blink of an eye, your going side ways down the road! If you think it doesn't happen,,,,you just might be next.

Active Handling (if you have it) will help keep the car going in the direction you have the wheels pointed and YES that has saved my butt numerous times!! I always drive in COMP MODE!!!

i have raced for several years and know what im doing with a car, and i leave my t/c on for normal driving. to me, it is soooo much safer in case of 'emergency manuvering'. its just not worth busting up my car to be macho and leave it off full time. i DO turn it off quite often when i want to have some fun, but when i need to make a calculated u-turn in heavy traffic and need to turn quickly on a road with even a slight grade.....t/c is awsome.

I leave it on for DD and only switch it off for fun. I've seen too many end up wrecked and or totalled in daily situations where if it were on chances are the car wouldn't have gotten away from them by surprise.

All good advice above...owning/driving a high performance vehicle doesn't automatically qualify the majority of Corvette drivers as "expert".

Competitive driving mode for me (active handling on, traction control off). It's become part of my startup ritual. Sometimes, I get annoyed at the extra 5-6 seconds it takes to activate, but I like to be able to spin 'em if ya got 'em.

The only time I use my traction control mode is when it's raining or slick (only very occasional ice/snow here in central Texas). On dry pavement, I don't like having the computer shut me down if I'm drifting around a corner or trying to lay into the gas and she just won't go....

I'm not a racer, but I do like to have fun.

It allows the EBTCM to dis-able the traction control algorithms and allow just Anti Lock braking & Active Handling to function.
The orange light is the low level interior light. It allows you to see in the interior at night and doesn't effect your ability to see out of the windows.
