Default Fixed!

I couldn't let that last post defeat me; I got the new to me BPMV and after I got my EBTCM from Brandon @ absfixer.com the 2 were reunited and installed in the car. Bled the brakes using a reverse brake bleeder from Phoenix Systems.

Easy reinstall with no problems. Fired up the car w/o any faults or codes!

Good afternoon!

Read your post. Could you send me your procedure and pictures.

Troubleshooting C1214 Code on my 2003 Vert.

I went through heck a few years back with ground issues on my 73-Big Block, so I know how bad ground can cause major problems.

Thanks.

If cleaning the contacts and grounds doesn't resolve your problem, the next best thing is to have your EBCM re-built. Here's a cut and paste of vendors that have been used successfully in the past;

1. well just wanted to let everyone with this problem know found a place to get this thing repaired and after talkin with Brandon got him to repair and upgrade it for 150.00 plus 8.00 for return next day air .
this is a great price if ya look at cost to replace and customer service was also great. he will gurantee the ecbm for as long as you own the car.So if ya have this problem give him a call , site is absfixer.com or call 877-648-7530 let him know ya heard about him on the form.

2. The name of the company is Auto&Truck Electronics. I am in no way affiliated with them, nor do I recieve any discount or monetary consideration for making this post. I'm making this post in an effort to save you guys some $$$ and hopefully help to prevent future failures given the problematic part could fail again if replaced with another flawed design part(assuming they haven't corrected whatever tends to break). I was a bit leary of this whole deal since I didn't have any references to say it was a good deal, or they did good work etc...
So if anything use me as sort of a guinnea pig in this matter. I had a GREAT experience both with the service of the rep and of the part they fixed for me. In my opinion it's $$ well spent to both save alot of $$$, but also, from what I'm lead to believe, have a much smaller chance of having the part break again. They have a 5yr warranty on their work as well. Their # is 1-800-550-0674

3. I had to have my EBCM re-built 4 months ago. Put it back in the car and no more codes. The company I used is on ebay, but I contacted them directly at http://autoecu.com/ Their phone # is at the bottom of the web page.

Hope this helps you guys out!

Jim,
Apologies for the delay. I am currently deployed to Pakistan so getting some pictures is going to be a problem. I can talk to you about specifics if you give me a idea where you are at in the process? Just got the codes, removed anything yet, etc?

BL-The procedure to remove the ECBM is real simple in this thread. I was taking my time but the screw driver slipped and I nicked one side of the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV). That turned my 15 minute job into a couple hours and a few hundred dollars to fix the wrong I caused by that little slip. (And admitting that I screwed up to my chief financial officer ((wife)).

Cheers

Default Code C1214

Good morning billjohns33,

Let me start out by saying THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

Got the codes cleared, but they come back occasionally. Sometimes a long drive will clear them (50+ miles). I've looked at the grounds, and unpluged and reconnected the connectors (a trick I picked up on a video from "Street and Performance" - a Hot Rod Shop in Arkansas - when I was building my 29 Ford Roadster with 350 Tuned Port.

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that I will have to pull it apart and probably send it to Brandon. This will wait till fall, as I want to run the car now while the weather is good here in the Buffalo, NY area. I will have plenty of time to play with it when the snow is falling! I've been playing with cars since I was a kid racing Go Karts. My 73 Vette was bought in 1974 (waited till I was 25 so I could afford the Insurance). I still have that one, though I don't drive it a lot (it eats gas)! My 8-year old grandson knows that he will get that one, so he shows it to everyone one, and proudly states that's " His Car"! By the time he's old enough to drive it, he will know all about it (the joy of having grandchildren).

Bought my 2003 Vert. used out of Chicago prior to retiring. This one is just a lot of fun to drive.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. Hope you get back soon, and thanks again for your service!!!

sent mine off awhile back-repaired and quick turn.... quick note: you can remove the part and still drive the vette,, using some caution, no TC/AH/ABS.....but you can still enjoy your ride...
good luck, and thanks for your service...
