The headers we did had no provision for different year passanger side air tubes nor a place to mount the early dipsticks.

Ya sure get what you pay for

Chris,
Thanks for posting an honest opinion. What's strange, is that some guys say they have no problem with these headers fitting right. So...they are either too ashamed to admit they got what they paid for, or it just reveals how inconsistent the manufacturing of the headers really is. In any case, I'm just gonna save my pennies for a set I know fits.

Spend $1,000+ or buy the ebay headers?
I have had them for over 8 months. I race my Vette almost every weekend and noticed .19 in ET - for the better (quicker) and my mph went up by 2. So, I picked up almost 2 tenths and 2 mph.

I had no problems with install. I did the install in my garage in 4 hours. Withing the 4 hrs I ate lunch. This was the easist job I ever did on my vette. I did have to adjust both a/c lines. Which I knew before starting the job. I did not connect the headers to the bracket by the collector. It did not alighn with brackets. I have not had 1 problem after install. I did have to have 2 pipes made to connect the headers to the x-pipe. I did by the high flow cats from performance curve. I bought the cats with a 3" inlet and outlet. I then had a 2 1/2 pipe opened to fit.
For $560.00 I was able to complete this job. I see other name brand headers at $1,400 plus then you need to buy an x-pipe plus clamps. With a total of about $1,800.

For those that said not to buy them, Have you seen them or installed them?

If needed, I have pic's of the install to back up my words.

Here are some links of what I wrote about the headers:

Shoot, I'll take your word for it. So they must really have a quality control problem. I guess you just roll the dice, and hope they fit. If you get lucky, you get a cheap set of headers that works great, if not, you get a PITA.

I guess it all comes down to weather you want to go into this with the knowledge you may have to do some modding to get them to work and the additional steps you need to take to get the necessary parts to hook them up and fit properly. I think it's a good alternative for folks that have the knowledge, skill and ability to do the job. As for me, no way. I'll spend the xtra bucks and not have all the hassles.

why would i spend $30,000 on my Z06 and then be cheap and get a $300 dollar set of headers? i'm not made of money by any means. i could have bought a $15,000 mustang in that case
looking around i found a full kit long tube headers with catted x pipe for $1,300 brand new. dynatech or kooks.

Its hard to say because this is the only set we have done and the passanger side header would not even come close to fitting with out having to heat it up and dimple it so it could be bolted up to the head. It was also missing a piece to complete it. A customer trying to install these at home would have had many problems.

Although I feel sorry for the original poster, he did learn a valuable lesson. I really had to laugh a bit, since I came out with this thread, a short while ago:

To those who haven't seen it, take a look - much truth is said in jest....

I'll leave it at that.

I was driving past the Sandburg middle school field (before crossing rt9 on throckmorton) the other day. I remember looking into one of those side streets and seeing the car on a driveway. Hard to forget because there aren't many like it. Nice ride, You may see me once in a while in my 03 qs z. I'm always driving back and forth to Hollywood video.

Nice car you have there.

Thanks, I do live there. I usually have my ears open for cars driving by. I have an ear for muscle, not for the 4cyl loud crap. I probably have seen your car go by, so many vettes and Mustangs and some old muscle cars go by all day. There is a yellow ZO6 that I see sometimes, This ZO6 is not stock, You can hear the rumble go by.

I keep my ears open because I have noticed some cars drive by the house slowly at night when everything is tucked in for the night. I do welcome unwanted people. I need to zero in the scope on the AR-15. Nothing like a moving target.

I have surprised some people by coming out the back door and watch them.

I think you saw the car in the driveway when I was switching the race tires back to the street tires.
