My biggest issue, that wasn't caused by my mods, was the EBCM failure. Luckily, Brandon at ABSFIXER.COM rebuilt my EBCM for $150 + shipping.

All of my mechanical issues...mainly a blown engine, were because of mods.

Had 3 broken valve springs in my '99 DD at 90k. Mechanic said this was a common problem with the early C5's????? Well I've never heard of it.

My Dads '98 started missing really bad, SES light came on for random misfires. Took it to Scottys and the guy found 2 broken intake valve springs and some of them, had already been replaced, only has 45k miles on it The tech said it was a common problem, but I hadn't seen too much about it on here, but you're not alone.

I have a 1999 C5 hard top with 1000000 miles. It is my only car. I had a choice of no vette or the only car . You know what I picked. My problem is I am wondering how long this will go . I think for 2000000. I love my vette . No major problems. I will drive till I drop.

Default Vette problems

I have a 99 coupe with 73k, the only problem I have had is the A/C door actuator issue which I fixed. Been great other than that.

Rocking drivers seat. Fixed via the forum. Freebie.

CLB. Dealer fix

Passenger door glass leaks. Lazy haven't fixed

Rear passenger side shock broken mounting bolt. Replaced

Oil pressure sender died. Replaced

Drivers side head light adjuster and gear replaced

Lots of annoying mods gone wrong, mostly lighting

Stereo ***** split

AC control buttons just caved in, gotta pull it and disassemble to determine problem

Drivers side seat bladders all out one at a time till nothing works, will R&R soon

03Z 42K miles. Power Seat track, power steering rack and pump, EBCM/BPMV, wheel bearings, tie rods. Extensively tracked, probably the reason the power steering, wheel bearings and tie rods went several times. Power train is still strong and reliable and spends a lot of its time on the track at 5500 rpm and up. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Won't find many other makes that can take the beating I give the car.

2000 Coupe with 26,000 miles, only issue has been the factory CL recall harness K failed, and I removed and installed aftermarket CLB, not bad for a nearly 10 year old car!

I have a 2004 Coupe with 27K miles and I have had quite a few issues. I still love the car though.

-Leaky gas tank
-Leaky rear diff cover
-Leaky Oil Pan
-Leaky Axel Shaft seal (2)
-3 Gas cap failures
-Clutch Slave failure

All fixed under new or extended warranty thank god. The car is now out of warranty so I am hoping for the best.

1998 coupe with ~125k, purchased used with ~100k. Over the 25k miles I've driven the car...

- New transmission.
- Door switches almost gone (require lots of effort exerted in a specific place). Still a problem.
- Interior switches breaking off. Still a problem.
- Column lock issue. Car still constantly throws the code.
- Whining sound from front left when driving. Still a problem.
- Loud creaking sound over speed bumps. Still a problem, although I hear that it's an easy fix.
- Rocking seats. Still a problem.
- Windshield wipers will turn on randomly and cannot manually be controlled most of the time. Still a problem.
- Car spontaneously goes into limp mode. No interior electronics will work when it does. Still a problem.
- Car throws random codes at random times. Still a prob... wait, not a problem. Hang on, it's a problem again...no, wait...
- CD player non-functional. Still a problem.
- CD changer generally functional, but will not pull CDs out of the magazine at first. Takes several tries to get the changer to read the CDs. Still a problem.
- AC display went out. Fixed.
- Headlights often refuse to come up. May take several minutes' worth of attempts to get the lights to come up. Still a problem.
- Headlights may come up, but not turn on. Still a problem.
- Headlights may come up and turn on, but will shut off while driving. Still a problem.
- Headlights may come up, turn on, stay on, and shut off normally, but the motor will continue to run for several seconds after the lights are down. Still a problem.
- One of the DRLs went out. Fixed.
- Oil pressure sending unit went out. Still a problem.
- A couple of new batteries. Fixed.
- Currently unknown slow drain on existing batteries. Still a problem.
- Audio speakers on left side need replacement. Still a problem.
- Both fobs died a long time ago. Still a "problem," although I chose not to replace them.
- Parking brake non-functional. Still a problem.

And, of course, you have the usual creaks, rattles, groans, and fit and finish problems.

I'm pretty sure this is what you need for that problem: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...rocedures.html

Most Autozones carry the wiper motor.

02Z, 41k miles, couple of electrical issues. Nothing mechanical so far. Electronic Brake Control Module keeps continuously throwing the same three codes. It comes and goes. I drive the car every day, rain, sun, snow or whatever. The driverside window will sometimes get stuck in the full up position. I have learned that on my car if I do not roll the window completely up, the window works every time. Other than those two items, I have done ceramic brake shoes, to kill the squeal, new tires, new battery and fresh fluids everywhere.

Default Three C5s ..............

We have three (3) C5s , 2 red 2000 FRCes and my 2001 Z06. Granted they are not daily drivers and I do extensive maintenance on all the cars in my collection but the C5s have little or no needed repairs. The FRCs have had only the column lock under warranty. The Z06 has had the column lock and the driver's side rear diff. axle seal replaced ( again under warranty at 900 miles). Oh all the batteries ( Optima Red Top) were replaced this year just for reliability.

I've had much more issues with the Buick GN and my GMC Suburban 2500 454 4X4 but that's a story for another time.

I shouldn't be upset at all compared to the others that have posted.

- Rocking Seat: bad seat tracks
- Driver's side lumbar: pump bad, solenoids board bad
- Dim HVAC display: free forum fix
- Intermittent power door locks: hey, it's a feature
- Intermittent horn

2001 bought in 2008 with 14k on it.

Since I bought it I replaced the Manual Transmission, Air valve for emissions, drivers seat track, bower motor and resistor, Battery, Power Brake Booster and had it confirmed it is one of the cars with the Oil Consumption issue by doing an Oil Consumption test. GM offered to pay 1/2 of the $3400 tag to fix the consumption issue but I plan on trading it in next summer so I did not fix it.

Car now has 24k on it.... Wonder what will get replaced in the next 24k miles???

'00 6 spd. daily driver. Purchased with only 20K miles in early '06, currently 62K.

1) CL - installed the bypass kit
2) passenger window regulator
3) changed thermostat due to overheating
4) dim HVAC display - resoldered connections
5) oil pressure sender - gauged pegged at max, will replace sometime
6) intermittent incorrect fuel gauge reading
7) driver side headlight motor gear replaced with bronze
8) intermittent 'fuel starvation' symptom on acceleration in 1st and/or 2nd gear - knock sensor possible culprit
9) on 2nd replacement battery
10) rattle from removable top, front driver side when going over unsmooth roads
11) dead key fobs
12) going to need the third set of tires soon

The above problems are annoying than anything else but it still puts a smile on my face whenever I hop in and drive.
