Would there be one brand header that fits better than another? I have a 2000 C5 coupe M6 and plan on put header and new exhaust on. It seems that there are a lot of brands and a lot of different opinions. There must be some tech's out there who have done some installs and which brand works out the best without doing a bunch of different mods.to make the job go smooth.
Thanks to all for sharing your information and time. I have decided to go with the Kooks Headers.

Reason: Made the purchase!
But there is more to headers than just fit. I shopped around for a long time and did quite a bit of research. For price & quality as well as great support, you can't beat Kooks. My headers have been in for about 3 1/2 years and they look great and no issues. I also have the Kooks mid section with the hi-flow cats and x-pipe.
Great pipes.

We offer two series of headers for the C5 Corvette platform. The original LG Pro Long Tube Headers, and the LG Street Series Long Tube.
LG PRO Long Tube's
*C5 unit shown*
LG Street Series
*C5 unit shown*
Both systems are designed to be a complete bolt on for your C5 Corvette to do at home and come as a complete kit from the engine to the mufflers.
Each system comes with:
Driver and Passenger header with AIR fittings (can be removed for race use)
Off-Road Pipes (cats also if ordered)
X pipe
Muffler connection pipes
All clamps and needed hardware
02 extension wires
All four 02 bungs already welded in
Install instructions
Jet-Hot coating, LG Gaskets, and Stage 8 header bolts optional
What makes our Pro's different from our Street Series?
Street Series use a 4 into 1 collector vs. the merge collector on the Pro's
The Pro Series uses a larger 3" diameter mid section vs. 2.5" for the S.S.
Pro's have a Siamese X pipe vs. the Stamped chambered X on the S.S.
Street Series come with a high polish finish standard
What other things should I think about getting when installing?
LG H.D. exhaust gaskets
New spark plugs
New plug wires
Stage 8 header bolts
HeatMaster tunnel heat shield
Cat back muffler system
Let us know what questions you might have about your particular setup and we would be more than happy to help in any way.
Good quality, easy to install lenth of headers are few inches shorter than LG pro/street headers, X-pipe comes before Catted pipes. Collectors are merged and best fit no leaks. This should be ur #1 headers if u got the money.
Kooks: Again excellent headers comparable to ARH in size but heard its tough to install them, kooks and ARH produce more HP in high RPM range due its shorter in Header length, but heard it as well produce torque under the curve.
LG Pro: comparable to top quality headers, 3" all the way with true X-pipe. Produce more torque under the curve, just a hairline expensive than ARH/Kooks.
About 5 inches longer than ARH/Kooks headers, that produce more torque (this is sensitive issue had debate before some agrees some dont).
LG street: My ultimate choice if u r not going crazy with HP mods, as its cheap and Lou running special until Aug, 9th $100 OFF. Merge collector is 2.5" and so the rest X-pipe. Best bang for the money.
Dynatech: Design pretty much like LG headers but merge collector is different, it has 4 bolts connect design, but gives same perf as LG street but pricey.
Hope this helps, in fact England green posted a pic of ARH/Kooks/LG pro side by side, search in tech section.
Headers require some work to put in, not sure the minor differences in what is required between one brand and another is that big of a concern when you look at the overall installation task. I just planned extra time so I wasn't rushing and have been very happy with them ever since. Now that I have had them on and off a number of times installation is a little easier

Yes as far as performance, quality craftsmanship and install experience the vote is american racing headers or LG motorsport street
TPIS here. fits perfect on the ls1 and ls3. do yourself a favor and buy some used of the c5 parts section. buying brand new exhaust is just a waste of money
I have the RKSPORT headers, probably one of the few on here running them. They look exactly like TPIS headers except for the two bolt flange whereas TPIS has a slip fit collector. They fit like a glove and they are only around $895 new. I picked mine up for $400 shipped on ebay. They are also coated and you don't have to use 02 extenders with these.

I have Tonka Toys headers and they are the best of the best, they fit better than anything else on the market, they make the best power, they are the prettiest, they are the bestest most awesomest headers in the whole world.
The moral here is whatever headers a person has are the best in thier opinion This thread looks the same as countless threads before about headers. I am not being a dick, just trying to be funny and point this out...........
