Thats old news. There was a long link here on it last week. It doesn't really say that the oil is good or bad, only that there is not evidence of claims.
Never used it. Over the years I have found that I am very sceptical of claims of "significant" improvements that products claim to have. For example PULSE Spark plugs. Too many people here have proved that the flag is flying high on that product for C5/C6 platforms.
I try to stick with the tried and true forum tested and reported reliable products or something thats been around a while and proves that it works as advertised.

Well I figured out this week my oil no longer advertises as meeting the GM spec. I also read this BS by BP the maker of Castrol Syntec. My new oil will be Royal Purple. Now that's thinking with my dipstick jimmy.
Why? Cause I think Castrol has gotten to be a bully in the oil biz and they fear RP as a competitor. The rest of my car loves all the other RP products so I might as well go with the Purple Oil. FU Castrol.
I'll tell you the truth, I have been using RP. But after reading thread by a member here that has over 300,000 miles on his never opened lower block, I just bought a bunch of Mobil1 on sale at local parts store.

Why would you buy synthetic oil right in the middle of the road. M1 hasn't been worth spit for several years now since they changed their base stock. I have friends who are big auto industry reps. They say Amsoil, Redline are tops. The new valvoline "synpower" synthetic is showing great 3rd party lab wear numbers as well. There are at least half a dozen syn oils better than Mobil1.
My shop sells Motul, Redline, Castrol, Mobil 1 and Royal Purple. My personal cars gets Motul, my performance oriented customers get Motul or redline. The daily driver customers usually want the castrol or mobil 1.
I occasionally change the oil out in the shop lawn mower, it gets royal purple.

Non-synthetic oils are good for 300,000 miles, so really, the differences among synthetics is trivial when you look at the big picture. Get the least expensive oil that meets GM specs (and thet is usually Mobil 1 at Walmart) and your C5 will last longer than you will.
Saw RP tested on HP TV several years ago in a Camaro SS when they filled the engine, diff, and rear end...it picked up 8 or 9 HP to the rear wheels. That's good for something...

I'm not knocking RP in fact I personally think its one of the better synthetics, but using HP TV as your qualifier isn't the greatest idea. A while ago they were pushing the "tornado" as a great new idea to save you gas.

I hear you...but Dyno results are proof...provided the program editing was truthful. If you search the forum, you can find the video clip. See for yourself.
Dig around a bit. The stuff turns to water at high temperatures, and it sheets off the metal too quickly. Why do you think several of our sponsors on here and on LS1tech will not warranty their engines if the customer uses RP in them? I'd love to get Patman in here...
