I think all the omens warning me against this engine build just finally all came to roost yesterday. When I saw that crack in the casting around the valve guide, I felt the spirit just whoosh right out of me.

I felt that I was being more than generous and reconcilatory accepting the "fix" on those intake manifold bolts. But this? Game's over as far as I'm concerned.

I think the opportunity for that has come and gone. You will probably have to go to court now. Fortunately, you have documented the issues.
....you could have had one hell of an LS2 by now....

Yeah this is getting ridiculous. I still don't understand the appeal of the warhawk for your goals..but whatever. I know you wanted to say you had a 427.. why did it have to be a warhawk? There was absolutely no reason for it.

anyways.. i'll stop giving you a hard time now. hopefully you get your money back out of this somehow..

This totally sucks but I think you're right about the omens.

As a super strong 427 option:

OK, here's the latest in this saga.

Chris talked to Bryan at LME today, and Bryan has offered to refund my money completely on the engine, and build me a completely new engine using a RHS block. I'm not sure of what brand of heads, but they will NOT be World Products. But I believe the heads will be more expensive than the Warhawk heads.

So the two questions I need answered are (1) How much more this new engine will cost compared to what I already spent, and (2) what kind of time frame we are talking about.

Once I know those answers, I will then decide what to do.

I guess the criteria I am weighing the most will be how much longer I will have to go without having my car to drive.

But I'm also really relieved. I thought I had a court battle ahead of me.

Thank you, Chris, for going to bat for me. And thank you, Bryan, for taking the high road with this problem.

Chris said it is completely up to me on how to handle this. If I want to put my LS6 back in, order the new engine, and then when it comes in, he will rip it all apart all over again and put the new engine in for me.

Personally, I hate to ask that of him. That's a lot of damn work. He's going WAY above and beyond on this build. So I guess it depends on the timeframe. I doubt the heads will be THAT much more expensive then those Warhawk LS7X heads were. BTW, we want 6 bolt holes per cylinder on the heads, so that does limit our choices somewhat.

Bryan told Chris that they are not going to tear down my old engine and move the internals to the RHS block and the heads. They are going to order all new components and just resell that Warhawk block. I'm sure they will likely go over those heads with a fine tooth comb and fix the faults before selling them.

Things are looking up, finally. At least I don't feel like just pushing my car out onto the front parking lot at XtremeMotorsports and putting a FOR SALE - AS IS sign on it. Seriously I was almost at that point earlier today...

Oh, someone asked why I wanted to go with Warhawk. Well, because I heard from some sources that it was the BEST. Maybe had I gotten a good one, it could be, but certainly my experience should give anyone pause about making a similar decision. I know Chris has already told me that he will NEVER install another Warhawk motor in his shop. And from what I have seen, I certainly can't blame him for thinking that way at all.

Well, I tossed and turned all night with all this crap running through my head. Hopefully I'll sleep MUCH better tonight.

And in case I haven't stated this plainly... THANK YOU BRYAN FOR HANDLING THIS LIKE A TRUE PROFESSIONAL.

Put it back together and go get a new C6. If you want a 427 get a Z06 if you can do without get a new GS. Should be no problems and if there are you have a nice new 5yr/100K mile warranty. You have had enough stress. I do feel bad for you.

Except that isn't what he wants, is far more expensive, and is going to have less power in the end--for more money.

One of his first posts was he was thinking about a new GS but wanted more power. Then he said he regretted not going that route later on in this thread. A Z06 has a lot of power and if he wanted more he could put 4:10 gears in the new Z. That would get him where he wants to be. A new Z06 does 11.9 at 130mph. Put 4:10's in it and your would have a low 11's screamer. I have driven a friends 2008 Z06 and it is really nice. My C5 has 4:10's and actually has more off the line grunt than his but after that all I see is taillights.

That is not exactly accurate.

I said I had been looking for a 2009 Z06 3LZ (cyber gray, spider chromes, ebony interior) but could not get one for a price I wanted to pay. I set a limit of $70K out the door, local sales tax included) and just could not find one for that price. So I gave up and decided to put about half that amount into a major upgrade for my C5 Z06.

In reality, I had originally planned on selling off much of my gun collection and buy a ZR-1 when I first heard of it. But GM didn't make that the car I wanted to buy at that price. So I decided to put the money into a new garage and a new Z06 (mentioned above). Obviously NOTHING in this went as I would have liked it to go....

I wanted to talk you out of it in the beginning, sorry to see this truly turn into a crap sandwhich.

Some friendly advice on the forced induction....

If you must have twin turbos I would suggest the TTIx set-up and forget about an sts deal.

Better yet, save yourself some headaches and give Kenne Bell the nod.

Been there, done that with twin turbos.... to do it over again (which I am) I'm bolting on a simple blower kit.

I wish you good luck from here on out!!!

p.s.- I'm curious to know what kinda guns bring in close to six figures? Class III?

No. Had a pretty nice Colt Python collection and some very collectible assault style weapons. They got so collectible that I wasn't inclined to shoot them, and finally just got worried that they might get neglected to the point where they would get rusted and then worthless. So I decided to trade one hobby in for another.

Of course, I didn't sell ALL my guns......
