I replaced the micro relay and it worked like normal. Symptoms were no reverse lights in reverse, but it had reverse lights when using the key fob.

Hope this helps.
Thanks tried replacing relay #38 12077866 oem# and still no lights, mine is a automatic, with a aftermarket Hurst T Handle shifter? do not have to push on back pedal it release shifter , sucks, I was wondering if you think it might be the neutral and b/u light switch combo in console? or do you know how to see if it is pugged in the Console? I also had the no back up light problem. It is the switch that goes bad and shorts to ground, which blows the fuse. Replaced the switch and second blown fuse. Back up lights work good again. The car was a 2000 with a manual transmission.

Default Having the same issue

Having the same issue. Jumped the wiring harness for the switch and still no reverse lights. What could it be before I dump a bunch of money into it.

Here is power flow description of this circuit. It begins at the battery then the BCM then power goes to the relay at position #38 in the under hood power distribution center, it is protected by a 15 amp fuse at position #2. Once leaving the relay it goes to the fuse in the fuse panel under the right floor matte, it's a 10 amp and is in location #21 the power then flows through the switch. It is grounded at the transmission and the ground distribution block in the rear of the vehicle.
The 10 amp fuse will blow when the switch is bad because the power goes directly to ground. The relay could be bad but is rare; check its fuse. I paid $13 for the switch at Carquest, plus two 10 amp fuses diagnosing this issue. Works perfect now; hope this helps.

Default C-5 Reverse Lights

Just replaced my backup light switch (#REPC545501) cost $10.00+/- and 10 amp fuse #21 in passenger foot well panel. All works just fine now. Used 7/8" box wrench, 12 points, rather than buy a 22mm wrench. Did ZERO damage to the new switch. Entire process took perhaps 20 minutes but I do have a lift.
Thanks for all of the other member's input!
