You can cash in the chips now.....(sorry btw!)

Not sure why you expected this would work out any different than the original "Fibertune" results....in fact Im a little confused as to whether this intake actually is a Fibertune or a copy of one....maybe one of the few produced some months back that also failed to produce decent results out in the field and was put up for sale.

I could have called the outcome to this test weeks ago.....in short (pun intended) your manifold runners are simply toooo short. Manifold design is very tricky....almost more challenging than cylinder heads in certain respects. There is alot of physics overlapping in manifold design and alot of different criteria to ultimately produce a design that works effectively over a broad operating range. There is likely an RPM and a combination that may like that intake, but its nowhere near an RPM that any one reading this post if going to operate.

While I'm sure that design flows alot, the runner length is all wrong for your combination and it wont be any better N/A.....it will still be a significant loser in that comparo as well (boosted and N/A are very similar.....both represent a pressure drop from ambient outside pressure to one located in the cylinder with the piston on the down stroke.....a boosted motor simply has more pressure but the physics and mechanics of a poorly designed intake (or anything else for that matter) are still in place.

Cut me loose on a properly ported 102....that would be the ultimate intake for this combination and your halfway there already with the rails and everything else you need. Watch your power increase everywhere from the crack of the dyno hit to redline with longer, higher flowing runners that have the right taper and a superior injector location....my guess is more power everywhere on slightly less boost as well.

Anyway....Im not here to hawk my handiwork as much as I am to share information and clear up perhaps why the results were so disappointing. I know your probably tapped out from this endeavor and I'm sure sinking a bunch of money in a new intake project is probably the farthest thing from your mind. If its something you might consider shoot me a PM and I would be willing to work with you a little to get the feedback.

Real R&D isn't always sexy or exciting and sometimes leads to disappointments such as the one you just experienced....if it was easy everyone would be making big power and you should be commended on the fact you forged ahead not knowing what the outcome would be....that's the very essence of hotrodding and the spirit that fuels the passion for our hobby!

WOW! There you have it. Completly different than I would have expected but,,, the most accurate data that your going to receive. Thanks Tony!

If Joe Blow said the exact same statement,,, i would have douted the information. If its from Tony Mamo,,,believe it.

Sorry to hear the dissapointing results. If I were you, I would take Tony up on his offer with one of his ported FAST 102 manifolds and watch you pick up a good amount of HP and at lower boost.. I'll be calling Tony for a ported FAST 102 as well this winter and hopefully hit a solid 800rwhp with my procharged 347/A4 setup. That's probably your best bet. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Tony, thank you for your input and information. I'll shoot you a pm, but im not sure I can afford anything until I can sell my LS6 intake and maybe this intake for someone who wants it for looks. I did have the feeling I wasnt going to get positive results, but I LOVE this hobby and I know every car is different. My car has surprised me with every mod I do, I took a chance, but anyone like me that has this intake or is about to buy one, will get the info they need so they can make the right decision. It does look pretty cool, I just put some smooth valve covers on. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the comments. I should have the FAST 90 intake results sometime next week. Im going to Raleigh, NC for a GM car show, so I couldnt do the intake swap this week.

A noble effort Bryan but some roads less travelled are dead ends as you found out. Frustrating and expensive as it was, I hope you had fun trying.

Sorry its taken me a few days to get on here and post the results of the FAST 90. My computer has been messing up. Anyhow, the results are not good, I made 668 rwhp and 557 ftlbs @ 9 lbs. but I have some issues. I have a vacuum leak that I have know clue where its at. and im only hitting 9 lbs. My thoughts on the vacuum leak maybe something to do with the TB. Thats the only thing that is left that it could be. So Im going to try to find someone with another LS2 TB and try it. If I dont Im putting my LS6 intake back on and giving up. On the less boost issue, I think its my belt. Its not that old but its not that new. So I gotta a few things to do, but im so frustrated with this whole project im ready to put it back the way it was. But Im taking a few days off from it and maybe in the mean time I can find a LS2 TB to try out. Hopefully I can resolve all these issues. I will keep yall updated everytime I find a new fix or problem.

Bryan

Someone stated that you can seal off the TB opening and put compressed air into the TB thru a fitting and pressurize the manifold. I questioned the air leaking out an exhaust valve but they stated that it didnt.

Try to pressureize the manifold thru the TB and see if it holds pressure.

Yea man it's frustrating, but hopefully I can figure it out. I gotta few tests to do and if I can't fix it I'm going to give up and put my LS6 back on and be done with it. And my computer is messed up and I'm doing this from my iPod and it's soo slow! The show was really good. Had slot of issueson the way up there. O'well it's life!
