Love the sound on the track, but could not take it on the street.
Even when I go bed in my brakes out in farm country it is too loud.
Heck my wife can hear me go through the gears a mile away.

The question was about sound.
Not performance.
Just want a louder exhaust system than stock.

Thanks to everyone that read and understood the question.
I appreciate your input.
Probably end up going X pipe with no mufflers. See if i like the sound or not.
If so i will be done and have saved money.
I'd rather hear it this way first and have to add mufflers later if i dont like the way it sounds.
Thanks again to the helpfull replies.

Do you plan on having rear exit or are you just going to have it terminate right after the x-pipe?

Guess you did-check with your local law enforcement-I'm sure they have a copy of the memo.

Well, if you want loud, remove the mufflers. PERIOD!
I have Borla straight pipes and everything else is stock. It produced 131db at the Corvette Funfest and won me $50, yippie for me
At idle it rumbles a lil bit and cruising it is very mild, as long as I'm not running it hard it isn't really too loud. In fact, I am going to remove the cats to free up a few ponies and help the engine run a lil cooler being that the noise isn't that loud currently, of course it will be much louder after the cats are gone. (note, if anyone wants to give their opinion about the more ponies and cooler comment, please do it on a thread that addresses that subject, this is about mufflers and I'm only stating my own personal thoughts, thanks).
I say do it
Thanks for trying to keep the replies relavent to the topic.

So having a loud sports car makes you a REDNECK? or is it specific to just corvette owners?
If the question was would running with no mufflers comply with my local noise ordinace laws then your reply would make since. But the orginal question had nothing to do with if this would be legal or not. Thanks for trying to help though.

Electric cut outs...
What about electric cut outs?
They will be loud (open exhaust) when you want it to be and quiet when closed.
You can keep your stock exhaust, just put them in before the cats or mufflers depending on how loud you want them.

Best of both worlds for sure. Thanks.

Something like this...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Badla...Q5fAccessories
I considered doing a set of these when I had a Supercharged Mustang, but had to keep my full exhaust for emissions compliance.
I decided to go with a smaller pulley.
