anyone know the cost to have 4.10 installed??? estimated labor cost??cause I would love to have done!!!
With not having your profile filled out, it would be hard to recomend a shop in your area when there is no mention of where you live, what you drive, tranny, year, mods etc.

Yep I still havent done that... (SORRY) 1999 FRC 6 spd Wilmington NC And I'll work on the profile... Thanx!!!
You have to kinda work to get that with 3:42's; I'm doubting thats the 4:10's are still getting that good of mileage. Also, I'm pretty sure theres some tuning work with regard to tuning for the MPG to be accurate when gears, injectors, FI or a cam has been installed. Otherwise the PCM still uses the tables for stock gears, injectors ect; I've seen this somewhere else in the scan and tune section I believe.
You guys must drive like there is somebody chasing you everywhere you go lol, I definitely got that and better with my 3.42's. I will check it the old fashioned way with paper and pen and see what I get.

I have not been in 30 mpg territory yet but I've only had the car for 6 weeks. But the 700 mile return trip only netted about 28 mpg with the 3:42's and 90% of the trip was spent in 6th. After reading your post the only conclusion I could come to was that I have been driving too slow.

Actually to get 30+ you need to keep the speed under 75 and on the hwy. I got 33 behind a 16 wheeler on a flat Rt 95 from Florida to NC when I had my 3:42's and runflat tires.
You can get it done for $2500 - likely a lot less.
wow thats alot of cash!!!! Well I guess I'll stick to the 3.42 for a good while ( I just dumped a grand in the starter and 2 sensors replaced) and that hurt..... thanks for the time and info Sir...

If you can do the work yourself or have friends that can help, you'll save a lot of money.
some of these mods get pricey when you factor in the labor. If you have an auto tranny and change gears you need to get your tranny shift points reset.

figure in a shop is going to charge around 500 labor for the swap then you need your speedo recalibrated

I can easily get into the 30's as long as I'm under 80. 80-85 is about 25-7 mpg
What about just changing your ring and pinion for a motive gear 4.10? They are just 300 bucks. Is it very complicate? I have heard that they my whine a bit. Any experience?

I think that for the expense of the actual whole job, it is just easier to buy the whole pumkin with the gears in it already.....someone correct me if I am wrong because I have a buddy who owns a Mister Transmission that said he would do the swap for me....but if it's easy to put the gears in the pumkin and save $1000, I'm in!

Well I lived in the dominican republic where labor is dirt cheap.
I can get the ring and pinion change for $150-200 bucks at my shop. And is a good shop too...with over a few dozen 9 and 10 seconds supras, rx7s, evos, mr2s. Will change they out in a jiffy
if you are going to swap out just the gears and not the whole dif make sure you buy some hardened output shafts!!! they are a must if you plan on taking the car to the track
Folks,
I haven't read all the post but, I have DTE 4.10 rear diff. It was under $2k and easy to install at home in my garage. However, I believe on the street it is a bit steep. When on the gas (I have a built LS3) I shift into second within, like 12 feet of launching the car from first.....this is on street tires though......
