AFR or Trick Flow if cash is no option. I have PATRIOT PERFORMANCE Stage II heads on my heavly modded 02 ZO6. There supporting 450 RWHP! The CASH savings is pretty significant!

Ive been told that IF,,,,,,,,,,, I step up to AFR or a different ported head like TFS, I would expect to see some HP increases. IM very happy for now and there working WELL! Patroit Performance is a stand up dealer and will work with you with all your needs!

Price the heads and YOU deside what you want to do! If cash isnt a problem,, GO AFR or TFS!!

I believe the LS3 heads require a 4.00 inch or larger bore, which your '03 Z06's LS6 doesn't have if it's stock bore.

The stock bore size of an LS6 is 3.90. To small for LS3 heads.

If you are still running the stock converter with 3.15 gears. You will gain MUCH better performance with a high stall T/C like the Yank SS3600 and 3.42 or 3.73 gears.

heads, Cam and intake/TB should work as a package for best results.

Not Cam from bin A
heads from Bin B
Intake from Bin C

Thanks for the input, but my build is very mild with 853 heads (stock) and dont want to put more head than needed. One guy mentioned having all my parts match and that is what i am talking about. What head configeration is best for my application even if it is a stock 243 heads. Thanks for all your help.

comp cam xr265 isnt that a DODGE cam ?
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=661&sb=2

Stick with the stock 243 heads, light wt valves, and a 224/230 581/588 114 cam or XER273HR

my 2000 is daily driver w/ 100K miles - I have the Patriot heads - they are the cnc'd stock Z06 "243" heads (chamber 62cc) - I think this fits into your daily use category - I have 218/224 comp cam/double gold springs - heads flow 300 cfm - Have Yank 3600 stall - Kooks headers - 3.42 gears w/ hardened shaft -
wife says it drivers fine for her - will do 11.83 in 1/4 mile - also still gets 28 mpg on the highway

The cam i have is comp cams xr265hr-high lift,212/218,558/563 @.50 and 115 ls. as you see not much more than stock z06 cam except 8 degs mor intake duration. I have been leaning towards the z06 243 heads in stock condition. Thanks

I"m curious why you selected that cam profile?
To answer your question on head selection, it sounds like you will be plenty happy with a set of 243 castings. But I would encourage you to get ported 243 heads. You might think that a 40-50 hp bump with that cam and stock 243 heads is "all you will ever want", but it won't be enough in 6 months. If you are paying someone to do the wrenching, start out with good parts (bigger cam and ported heads), so you don't have to pay labor again.

Confusion comes from Comp Cam using the same "XR265HR" descriptor for two different cams. The XR265HR 54-424-11 is in their XFI RPM HI-Lift family and the XR265HR 54-412-11 is in their XFI RPM family. Similar duration different lift and LSA.

That cam is very mild and ported/aftermarket heads will not show as big of a gain as a bigger cam would, but if you're happy with that cam then I'd recommend looking at PRC stage 2.5 5.3 or 243 heads. I run them with my 218* cam and you can see my numbers below...
