This is EXACTLY what I have used on "regular" SBCs for years. The LS series engines have metric threaded cranks, metric threaded rod wasn't as easily sourced for me, so I simply bought the Hawk installation tool. Either method will properly do the job.
I borrowed one from the shop that will be tuning my car. It was his home made one from a ford Windstar upper control arm bolt from mid 90's. Worked like a champ. I could not locate threaded rod or a bolt long enough locally and needed it done. Will probably invest in a nice master kit that will do all of them one day.
Not close enough. I tried speed shops with in 25 miles, parts stores, hardware stores and any kind of shops that might have it with no joy. I would have made my own but same as above. I would have went to junk yard and got bolt had I known yesterday. I could offer online but don't have days to wait or want to pay $$ for next day shipping.
