Got my tech 2 today. Tried it on my 2006 Silverado & worked ok. The tis 2000 looks like it needs windows XP to run? Anybody figured this out? We may have an old XP disc to try.
I use an old XP laptop !!!! If you look through this thread and others you will find what others have used. One comes to mind that Win 7 32 bit will work, I have all 64 bit PC's so I didn't have that option !!!
Tis 2000 requires a 32 bit operating system. I have run it on XP, Vista and 8.1 all 32 bit. I did not have Windows 10 32 bit to try it but I am sure it will run on it as well.
If you look at this thread post 38 , you can see how I run TIS2000 in a Virtual 32bit XP on a pc with Windows 10 .
I use Oracle VM Virtual Manager to run my XP prof. sp3 .
This Virtual XP communicate with my Tech 2 though the Host pc's USB ports and I am able to upload snapshots from my Tech2 and View the signals on my desktop
has anyone ever used or purchased a Chinese tech2 from ebay or anywhere else?im wondering if they work for normal diagnostics and are they bidirectional.ive heard that you cant program an ecm with them, but I wont be doing that anyway.i am a former gm master tech, but currently am a Nissan master tech and don't have acces to a tech2 anymore,i have 2 corvettes,a Cadillac and a monte carlo ss,so I need a tech2 from time to time.thanks I appreciate any input anyone has
is prominently marked GM with no other designation, but the cord has both Vettronix (VTX02002955) and GM 3000098 on it.
Anyway, I was able to easily and completely program out the TPMS system, and just for sh*ts and giggles, I programmed it back in and then out again. It has a comprehensive menu. Not sure about ABS, but I am going to plug it into the OBD II port this PM and play around with it.

It took 3 weeks to get my Tech2 from Hong Kong to Spain Via UK customs, and 1st off it wouldn't communicate with my 2005 C6 ECU, either with or without CANdi module, took it of the car and did the self tests, and it fails on the VCI at the DLC1 section so i unfortunately got a bad one.
I'm just waiting for a reply from supplier about a replacement VCI unit, but same story, i will have to send the old unit back via slowest airmail at my own expense which will mean another 3 weeks, and then they test it and then send another one out with another 3 week wait, so big disadvantage buying from China is the time element.
Thats IF they send me a new VCI, if not its a Paypal resolution and huge cost to send it back which i want to avoid like the plague....that's my experience.

I just bought mine from AliExpress, full gm set with the plastic case and free shipping by DHL for $331.50. My business visa was declined 4 times, twice after I called the cust service for visa, and they said this is a common place for the cards to be declined because I'm in the US and they're overseas. Had to do some verification but it's done now.

I bought mine through Ebay a couple of months ago for a little under $400 from a vendor in Hong Kong and it was at my door 4 days later. I could have saved some money if I bought it directly from 1 of those Chinese websites but wasn't comfortable with that. Too much chance for mis-communication. Felt more comfortable with Ebay. Works great. So far, so good.
When I got it, I noticed that the memory card was in the wrong slot and the door would not open far enough to correct that. So I voided the warranty and removed the sticker (this was not going back anyway), took the back cover off. Nothing looked out of whack so after looking at it for awhile, I was able to remove some plastic. Door works as it should now.
The other thing that was funny. Comparing the parts list in the manual with the part no. on each connector, all part numbers were present, however, they were on the wrong connectors. Had a laugh over that. I figured it out anyway.
