Default Throttle body replacement

I am trying to replace my throttle body with a slightly larger one on my 2004 Corvette. I have the 5.7L engine. On the drivers side of the throttle body is a drive motor which drives the gear on the throttle body. I cannot seem to disconnect this from the throttle body to transfer it to the new one. Any suggestions? It appears to be held in place by four bolts that have star shaped heads but I can't find a tool to match up. It is a special tool?

Does it look like this? If so it is called a Torx bolt (pic shows a torx screw)

If I remember (and I have a bad memory) it is a torx with a small "pin" in the middle that will not allow a "standard" torx to be inserted. It is a "special" tool that has a small hole in the torx for that pin.
Just out of curiosity , have you made enough mods to justify a bigger TB? The stock one flows pretty good.

If the screws are like the ones used on the LS2 TB, they are not a regular "Torx", which is 6-point.

The LS2 TB uses a 5-point fastener. If it has the pin in the middle (which most do that I have seen) it is called "Tamper Resistant TORX Plus". OTC makes a set of bits for use on 1/4" and 3/8" drive ratchets. Part #5905.

Example:
Regular Torx, size 15 = "T15"
5-point Tamper Resistant Torx PLUS, size 15 = "IPR15" (Some refer to this as "TP15")

You need to buy yourself a set of Torx screwdrivers. They're found all over the car and you'll need T10, T15, and T25 at the minimum.

If you have a Harbor Freight close by,they carry a complete set of torx security bits along with almost any other bit you would need for about $10.Standard torx won't work due to the security pin in the center.

If you're asking about the need for larger TB, usless yours is somehow bad, you will proably gain ZERO hp. from a change. Stock ones will support quite a bit of hp.
I would spend my money on something else

What "slightly larger" throttle body are you planning to use? Do you still have the stock intake?

I FOURTH that or is it Third... Unless, you have added, heads/cam/headers/ bigger injectors and a TUNE,,,,, adding a bigger TB will do NOTHING,,,, but screw with your STOCK tune and add little or maybe nothing to your current HP/Tq..

When you modd the air flow thru the engine you will need a professional TUNE,,,, ($400-$500) So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Ide skip messing with the TB until you do signifcantly more Mods.
