Here you go.

Here is a way to jumper the car to start and drive. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL WHEN YOU DO THIS. Go to Post 66 and read about jumpering the Theft Deterrent Relay.

The jumper is just used to get the starter going to fire up the engine. Remove it as soon as it fires since the starter is engaged when the jumper is in place.

You can test it first with the ignition OFF to see how it gets the starter turning. Then with the key in ON you can crank and start the car and drive off.

I know several people that have used this and it worked perfectly.

OK. I recommend we resolve why it will not crank with key. That may uncover why it will not run.

Here are the things it could be related to

Clutch switch
TDR relay
VATs key issue (BCM or Key/Ignition switch)

You had a battery acid spill... Until you unwrap ALL those harnesses,, you will continue to have issues down the road. It may also allow you to resolve the purple wire issue more easily.

I also STRONGLY recommend that you neutralize the all the remaining acid in that area and on the frame and repaint that area. Ive seen it eat holes in the frame in critical areas...

Again,, unwrap those harnesses and inspect ALL those wires and REPLACE the nylon vacuum line inside the harness. I bet you it is damaged beyond use.

thanks for the tip bill
and last thing I can possibly think it is, maybe a fusible link was blown.going to try and check them one night this week.
if not car is coming apart and will be getting rewired. Not much more I can think of to check left in the car.

The two fusible links only affect the alternator and have nothing to do with cranking or running.

gotcha, then I am at a loss with this car. traced every wire I can get to. just have to figure out where the heck this short is. Of course it looks like it's shorted to the main ignition power to everything. Might have to just replace the harness and call it a day.

You only told me you had one ground/short issue which you resolved by pulling Fuse 15 in the engine fuse box.

If you give me more info I can look further.

that's the only fuse that I pulled that made a difference. but even with that fuse pulled and ground gone on the ignition car still will not power up at all, nothing comes on except the door locks and the headlights so still back at square one. At a loss, and for the first time in a long time about to give up on resurrecting this thing. I hate walking away from something without being able to solve it.
this has been an ongoing issue for 10 months now , been working on tracing this short now for a long time.

by the way 2 of the harness wires on the o2 sensor ring to ground, that's with the harness disconnected to the sensors and the melted wires gone.
I think this car will sit a for a while, have too many other projects going on to spend more time on this car for now.

I do appreciate everyone's help. and especially Sam for taking the time to walk me through a lot of wiring while I was wired on energy drinks and talking a mile a minute lol.
eventually I'll get back on the car, but for now I have 2 of my own cars dead in my driveway that need fixing and about 5 other peoples cars I need to finish up for the summer.

When you are ready to tackle it again we can start with just getting it to crank. That should give you the confidence to get it running again.
