Default Upgraded Fuel Injectors ????

Are there any injector upgrades out there at a reasonable price???
I just have bolts on and maybe a cam later on, so I don't
need a high dollar high capacity injector...
But, while mine are out (doing a ls6 intake swap to my 2000)
I'd def want to get mine cleaned at the very least..'But I know
that there are probably better designed injectors out there.
Thanks

you should have 26lb injectors if they are stock... there really isn't a reason to change them on a bolt on car and there is no benefit to swapping in larger injectors unless you are running out of fuel, I would just wait until you do heads/cam and then drop some in... the 28lb injectors on my 02z were maxed out at around 420rwhp just to give you an idea... for a full heads/cam setup and supporting mods 36lb injectors will probably do the trick

Fantastic advice. When I did my heads/cam, I left the stock injectors in and had the tuner check duty cycles when tuning. Once we confirmed the stockers could keep up, I swapped them out...which can be done in under 30 minutes.

Also, for your notes, you can run factory GTP injectors that end up being 42lbs on the LS1. Rebuilt sets can be had on eBay and the like for $100 or so. That's what I'm running on my setup, and the tuner said they were just right.

If you want the headroom, usually you can find an ls6 intake with rails and injectors for not much more than a bare intake.

Default Horsepower goals

There is an easy calculation for the correct fuel injector. You take your horsepower goal. 420 hp or whatever. Multiply by .5 then divide by 8 (cylinders) and divide that by .9 to get approximately 30lb injector.

I replaced mine with the red Ford Performance injectors, but that was after H/C, etc. However, I did have New Era Performance in NY clean and test them. This is a great service as they come back with all the flow numbers and new o-rings and other parts. I took the two highest flowing injectors, which they were higher by only a small amount, and used them in the rear two cylinders.

I’m installing a LS6 intake and throttle body off a 2003 Z06 in my LS1 99C5. The person I’m buying the intake/TB from also has the Z06 injectors and fuel rail. Should i just buy/install them while I’m installing the intake? He indicated that have approximately 45k miles on them. Thoughts?

When you swap injectors, You must change the TUNE to tell the PCM what size injectors are in the engine. Changing the injectors is easy BUT, you need a TUNER to do his part. A set of Injectors "should" come with a data sheet that tells the tuner a lot of info he can use to tune the PCM for the new injectors. You also need to know that installing different flow rate injectors will change your Calculated fuel mileage and range readings. It can also be adjusted in the tune.

As others have stated, adding monster injectors will DO NOTHING for the engine if your engine cant use the additional flow rate. Another important fact that few people consider is, Can your factory or the installed FUEL PUMP keep up with that new fuel flow? I strongly recommend performing a test to see if you are running out of fuel because of a weak fuel pump once you get the engine up and running.

I fully agree with VETTENUTS and neutron82 post.
