I bought an Optima Red Top from O'Reilly's Auto Parts........................I think they gave me a 20% veterans discount.
Why Buy a Corvette and an inferior battery?
bill is super knowledgeable. But I’m curious about the 120 amps number. Does that mean our batteries aren’t right for the car? Did they discontinue the right battery for the car? Is optima 120? It’s all pretty confusing. Hoping bill will fill us in!
I've used this battery for a few years now. Never had any problems. But based on what you're saying this is the wrong battery for the car?
It just means you can't leave your car parked as long without a maintainer or charging the battery. The 120 RC means the car can sit something like 4 weeks and still start. As far as I'm concerned it's nothing to worry about if you regularly drive your car. It can help if you leave it for a few weeks between driving. The RC is like an amp-hour rating. Basically how long the sleep current of the car can drain the battery before it's too drained to start it.
For my 2002 Z06 I bought the Optima Red Top #34/78 #8004-003. CCA 800 RC100.
I change my battery every 4 years for peace of mind. My previous red top which is six years old is used with my mini compressor. I hook it up to a ctek until it is completely charged then I remove the Ctek. It stays at 12.6 for at least a month.
While not for everyone I can say with a good bit of certainty that we offer the most advance and arguably the best battery on the Market. Its a bold statement but it does have it merits...
But before anyone blasts about price being too high for Lithium, I assure you the lifespan, WIRELESS built-in Jump Starting, and lightweight are benefits that do make it worth the extra cost for those who want that type of thing.

nice battery but side terminals would be nice and perhaps half the cost. The biggest benefit looks to be weight savings but that kinda limits the customer pool.

Its a more expensive niche product... but we don't feel the Lightweight is the main thing.... though that is great for the performance guys.
We think the Built-in Jump Starting, 8-10 year lifespan and the built in protections are the main value points. For example anyone of you can accidentally over-discharge a lead acid battery and damage the battery, which lessens the lifespan, but the Antigravity Lithium Battery is protected from having that happen, it just goes to sleep if it is coming close to being drained dead. So this not only allows for built-in Jump Starting but won't allow the battery to be damaged by an accidental over-discharge. . Plus not ever having to worry about coming back to a dead battery again, and not needing assistance or a Jump Starter are what we feel really make it a cool product. But I agree not all will be interested.. but we do very well with them so we don't need everyone to change yet... that will come in the next few years.
Purchased a lithium battery for my 07 BMW K1200R, Worked great in the warmer weather. Once it got very cold, the battery would struggle to crank the bike. I live in the Northeast and drive my car in all seasons. My experiences with lithium batteries in cold weather is NOT GOOD!

Bill
I can understand your perspective Bill, but you have to explain more about the battery you had and it's actual amp hours rather than blanket your experience from a motorcycle lithium battery to what I am promoting on this Corvette site, there's is a massive and dramatic difference.
While a lithium battery can suffer some sluggishness in extreme cold weather starting when it is undersized for it application the fact is that a lithium battery will get the start because it self warms when it expresses current whereas if it is cold and the lead acid battery does not get the start attempt it is done and it will not start the car again because it has used its capacity, so there is a trade-off. But I digress because the battery I'm promoting here would not have trouble starting in extremely cold weather, so while I can understand your perspective it is not related to what I am offering and promoting as the best battery because our battery is a 40 amp hour battery with 1500 cranking amps...
