Headers are my next mod. However, I live in California and am convinced I need shorties (O2 sensors, etc.)
Which are the best? I've heard Kooks, but can't seem to find them. I've also heard that B&B TriFlows are the only headers that are emissions certified; that said, I hear they don't flow well.
Are B&B the only ones that are certified? Where can I buy Kooks? Are there others I should be considering?
JBA Cat4ward headers are shorties and are 50 state legal. I'd like to hear from those who have them. Would you do it again? I want to put headers on my C5 but want to be sure they are legal and worth the effort and money.
You may also want to check with Bassani, they have applied for CARB approval for their Tri-Y header system, which is a long tube system. You can read about it here:

B&B's don't flow well? Compared to LT's, yes, compared to other shorty headers, no. IMO the best shorty header out there. Excellent build quality, and a real honest effort to improve over the stock manifold. You should gain approx. 10 HP.
Lots of vettes in Cali have long tubes. Yes, you "might" fail the visual but chances are low. I have long tubes with the air connections, high flow cats, and all o2 senors working. Passed smog with no issues. Most smog techs can't tell the difference between shorties or LT's. Unless you have the carb sticker in plain site, they can fail you for either type.

i have kooks with cats...i know i gotta pass the visual test, but hey, it is 4 years from now....and many shops will pass you even though you have lt....well, i can't say 4 years from now would be same as now, but once you hear the sound & feel the performance, long tubes are the only way to go....good luck with your selection....

I had JBA on my 98, installed them myself, like the look, just seem to run smoother, power maybe just a tad, sound got deeper, had corsa x-pipe and indy exhaust.

I think the B&B shorties are pretty sweet! I just took them off because I got rid of my cats and went with LG LT Headers. But if I were to ever put shorties back on I would put the B&B's back on.
By the way mine are for sale and I also have Bassani X-pipe for sale and pretty soon my Breathless Performance Vortex Ram Air.
