This is my first C6.

My 1966 98 Olds has better paint (even after 40 years). Its interior is nicer. The big 425 cubic inch V8 still makes tire burning torque. Etc. It only cost $5200 too. But it struggles to get 18 MPG on the highway, it handles like a river barge, it doesn't have all kinds of electronic gimmicks (only a factory AM radio), etc. There is value added in the Corvette compared to that old Olds. I'm not convinced that there's $55,000 worth of value added, though.

Certainly certain problems have been indentified and addressed by GM....the delaminating roof panel has been the most publicized defect. It was a non-issue for me....my roof panel was replaced and repaired and has been fine. A new design 'SMC' roof panel is now being used.
My 2005 C6 has been virtually trouble-free. It is a great car from a mechanical and reliability standpoint and from an enjoyment standpoint.
Of those that have had a problem...ask how many would get rid of their C6 and buy a different make....not very many I would wager.
This is my first C6.
Thanks

In most magazines the Corvette is compared with cars that cost $100-125,000. It is a world class car when you look at the entire package. It constantly gets compared to the Viper, Porsche, and the Z06 to Ferrari.
It is a great car for the money! I think that it is amusing when I read is some forums that some want the car to sell for high 30s or 40k. There are GM cars like that currently..... the Solstice (great car with no trunk space whatsoever with the top down).
You made a great purchase that you will not regret. The Consumer Reports rating is certainly inconsistent with an issue about 6 months ago that had the Corvette with one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings of any car listed in the magazine.
All cars have problems. I'm interested in what problems are out there, but of arguably greater importance is what are my odds of getting them?
I think the bald truth is that for us 2005/2006 owners, the price, performance, newness, etc was more than enough to keep us happy initially, and so likely to fill out surveys and polls as "well satisfied". This, even while the list of many known glitches (that would be easily verified and cataloged by the droll bean-counters at CR) was occurring to us and our mates.
Many people say "It's a bargain" to any hint of a complaint, and it may be true that as a relative package, people who are likely to purchase this car will weigh the totality in the positive. However, those same people would be foolhardy to believe that the overall quality is up to even Hyundai standards.
So, I say - be happy if you like your own trade off decisions, and don't let me rain on anyone else's parade!
But also please don't anyone try to convince me that this level of quality is either the best that GM could do, or that we ought to just willingly accept it. Why can't we have low cost, good design, AND have it not fall to pieces, too? I don't think that is really unreasonable in this day and age of competition, process knowledge, statistics, materials science, engineering tools, very ready data and testing...
