Well, I made my own partition and organizer - great for road trips and stuff. And it prevents people from accessing stuff in the hatch area with the top off when parked.
The reduction in buffeting is substantial. It's now possible to have a conversation with the passenger at 65 mph with the top off!
Brad
sounds very interesting, do you have any pictures???
(i didnt see any in the post)
thanks
I use the the trunk adapter bracket which keeps the trunk lid cracked open about 2.5" and it reduces buffeting by about 20%.
I have one, too and IMHO it really looks dumb going down the road with the deck lid sticking up. It helps with the turbulence, but since I installed my partition, I haven't touched the adapter bracket - there's no need for it.
After running with my partition for a couple of weeks I can't say there is a huge difference in noise at interstate speeds. Yes, it may be slightly better and the radio may be a tiny bit clearer but it's still quite noisy at 70+ mph.
As for buffeting, I do find that that the partition does help out. It may not be a huge amount but it is definitely less painful on the eardrums. Your mileage may vary because I have extremely sensitive hearing.
As for the partition itself, quality is top notch. It is well made and the color match is dang near perfect. I don't think the fit is perfect, however, especially with the roof panel making it bow significantly during stowage. Once the roof is in, though, there is no bowing and the front lip of the roof panel will hang over the partition. This overhang has two downsides. First, it makes keeping the flap behind the partition near impossible. Instead I just fold it back to where it is between the top of the roof and the sunscreen. Second, it prevents you from slightly raising the rear of the roof panel to access something underneath.) At the suggestion of Exotic Vettes I may try trimming the plastic ear pieces to see if I can get the partition to fit at a lower angle to reduce the stowage/bowing hassle.
Would I still buy one knowing the issues I have with it? Definitely.

Reason: Clarified for correct definition of buffeting. :)
I'm just curious if we are all talking about the same thing when we use the term "buffeting." When I use it, I'm talking about the turbulence inside the car that can make your ears hurt or toss things around inside the car. I am not talking about wind noise. The partition does little, if anything, to reduce wind noise with the windows down or the top off. So it doesn't improve your ability to hear the radio or keep from tossing the wife's hair. However, without the partition, if I have the top on and lower one or more of the windows at speed, or if I remove the top, the turbulence physically hurts my ears and its like being in a strong gusty wind inside the car when I get over about 40 mph. It does not make the interior wind free. That's about as good as I can explain it. Hopefully, I have not misled anyone with my comments into thinking a partition will make the inside of the car wind free and quiet with the windows down and or the top removed.

That is exactly how I would describe buffeting. Almost like a change in atmospheric pressure...not that I'm a meteorologist or anything! Wind noise I can handle...buffeting I can't!

I may have missed it...could yo please provide the web address for the company that has these...

I have a pet that when I stop and leave the windows open I also crack the trunk to leave additional heat out, the trunk floor, center console, etc. get extremely hot, Corvettes are known for that. I don't think that is dumb!
