I keep my front plate at arms reach in the hatch, if I am traveling for a lengthy trip or in an area I am unfamilier with, I will toss it on the dash in the front window. Been pulled over once, had it on dash, gave me a warning. When I am local, I have never had a problem yet w/o the plate. Texas law states "front of vehichle" not on front bumper.
I have a suggestion - invest in a removable front plate mount from “Top Flight”. I love mine – worth every penny – on/off in seconds – can’t see anything there when it’s off. I leave mine off, when I get pulled over – “oops, just finished detailing it and forgot to put the plate back, if you give me 30 seconds I will have it back on”- works every time.
Oh, and by the way, Top Flight is a Corvette Forum vendor.
I bought it and used it initially. Then I noticed that about 1/4 of the cars in Utah don't drive with a front plate and it is a secondary offense anyway. It is now in the trunk, but the mount is still on the car.
It sounds like you where very lucky to me...If its the law? or just put the pedal to the metal...I mean fiberglass?? You should have said " Do you not know who I am" that always gets me a ticket...if thats what you wanted???
Don't forget to add... "I pay your salary." and "Why aren't you chasing the real criminals?"

No front plate our Solstice or Vettes for over 11 years in NY. Never been hassled, even going through road check points and passing countless speed traps. I always keep the plate under the seat to show if needed.
I have the front plate in the car, if I get pulled over and get a ticket I would still not mount the plate. I would just pay the fine and call it a day, no big deal.
I am amazed at how many folks bash our LEOs out there..... They are doing their job that we pay them for. Thay are not perfect, some are better than others, but they are doing what WE pay them to do. If you dont want to be stopped, then dont break the law, whether that is license plates, speed limits, etc. If you are fortunate enough to get only get a warning be thankful and move on.
Dont imagine you would appreciate if we griped about how you did your job in the military and busted your chops because you were enforcing an order from the President or perhaps GO1 or GO2 (General Order 1 and 2)?

WARNING - If you are ever passing through Houston, PLEASE let LEO know what you are doing BEFORE reaching under the seat!!! This eliminates the uncomfortable feeling of having the barrel of a .45 stuck 3” into your left ear. HPD tends to get a little edgy in these situations, and rightfully so!
