Pulled over
,it can be placed on the dash as long as the tropper can see the plate. There was some threads on this ( Texas) a few montths ago.The law down here will not pull a vette or other nice sports car over for no front plate!!!!
Of course if they see some revenue from this issue watch out!
Luckily I also live in Montana and am proud to call that my home state with all my cars and 6 bikes all registered in Montana.
Screw this State and the Volvo they drove in on!

Sounds like you need to go back. Don't worry, you and yours won't be missed.
My pop is from Cut Bank MT, My brother is a Montana State grad, and an old teammate of mine is a coach for your beloved Grizzlies.
IMO Montana is a great state, I have a place in Wyoming just south of Gran Teton park and I have close friends in Helena, and Missoula as I mentioned before. I am up there often.
If I lived in MT I wouldn't complain about things like you do, and if I did, I would be smart enough to not live there.
Sounds like you have your priorities all screwed up. Not to mention the fact that you make some pretty lame comments and sound like a real pleasure to be around.
Of course, you do live in Hemet, not exactly CA at its finest, but not our fault either. That one is all you buddy ...
On the plate thing.
It is law in CA, I don't run one on my vette, nor do I on my old M3, nor on my truck, nor on my girl's Cayenne.
I have gotten a fix-it ticket and a parking ticket on the vette, none on the other cars for the lack of a plate.
The ticket is a fix it ticket, so I zip tie it on, find a copper, and have him sign it off. Then off it comes. Never a problem. They don't even care as long as it is secured, and is properly positioned. My choice, I wanna play, gotta be ready to pay when the time comes.
I pay the fix-it admin fee ($10) and send in the cite with a signature on the back from the LEO.
And done ...
Personally,
I am not a big fan of the way our cops in San Diego conduct their busriness.
I am now a critical care RN, but prior to being a RN I was a Firefighter/Paramedic and worked with LEOs quite often.
I have learned to stand behind what they do. However, I do make it a point not to stand in front of them.
Don't much trust them, the badge, or the gun. As a result, any encounters with a PoPo will leave you at a decided disadvantage -not a fair fight to get in so I try to stay out of there way as much as I can.
If anybody got profiled, I would be about last on the list to get hassled. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. Seems they are equal opportunity hasslers.
I save lives (try to anyway) for a living - more than once it has been a LEO that has sprung a leak from an encounter or got all busted up in a TC or the like with a less than upstanding citizen (probably why sometimes they are sour). Still, regardless of my professional role and repeated benevolent interactions with the LEOs on my turf, I have caught flack from them for BS far more times than times when I have been fairly treated when on theirs (ours?).
I understand,
They have a job to do, it is a hard one, and sometimes (probably often) they catch more than their share of BS.
I understand, but there is no excuse to not be bigger than the person with whom you are dealing and rise above the situation and continue to do the job as a professional.
Fundamentally it is a simple matter of professional integrity and respect for the job whether it is a RN, or a LEO.
I couldn't make it working in an ED, or pre-hospital if I didn't hold strong to this ethic. Some Nurses don't remember this simple yet fundamental tenet. Same with cops.
Just how it is.
PS And the comments about CA are L A M E ... Montana is a great place, just some of the people can be a little like _______...

To which I replied, "I do now!".
She laughed, told me to have it on the next time she saw me, and told me to have a good day. Never said a word about my dad's seat belt.
But DANG, over $200 for the kit from Top-Flight.....
I should quit being surprised.
Although I did get a ticket in the City of Ft. Myers once for backing the car in a city park parking lot. The citation said my plate must be visible from the driving lane or something to that effect. Never heard of that one before or since.
I have Top Flight model, God, how can you be so insecure that putting on a front plate would not please envy lookers.
Remember, a LEO has to have reason to pull you over, why give them a reason to pull you over and give you the once over?
After work, I frequently pop one beer and call it a day. I don't need or want to advertise a stop. It would make me paranoid and not want to pull out of my driveway if I was going to be a billboard to the Troopers for a silly front license plate every time I pushed the gas.

1. Put plate on.
2. Buy and install plate retractor.
3. Drive another car.
Most of all, quit _itching about LEO.

Most people already know what is legal or not and so most don't need to be reminded by others how holy they are and you might not be.
This is more of a way to incite an argument rather than answer a question. I go to a lot of forums and few have so many people who try to throw their righteousness at others. It also makes others not feel comfortable in asking ANYTHING since ya just know these same loud mouths will want to see their words in the post again.

Oh, and by the way, Top Flight is a Corvette Forum vendor.

I drove my Mach 1 daily for 3 years with no front plate and never got a ticket.
If you don't like the front plate law have you called your state rep lately about it?
One of the main things styling wise where the C6 is deficient , IMO, is that there was no provision for the front plate in the front end design like there was on the C5. I really believe that ugly plastic mounting thing was just an afterthought and basically the designers just waved a big bird at all owners in front plate states.....
Get an aftermarket front plate holder. What's the big deal anyway with not wanting a front plate on a vette? The side view is the best visual aspect of the car.
