With the new Camaro ZL1 with 550hp just being announced hopefully we'll get something bigger under the hood for the Corvette sooner as opposed to later.
Don't count on it.
GM would say that if you are not happy with the base car, you can always step up to the more expensive Z06 or ZR-1.
I don't know if this would really generate that many sales and be worth the trouble of doing this. The Z06 buyer wants a manual. There may be a few that would go for the automatic but the current version of the automatic leaves a lot to be desired. The real issue is making the automatic a better performer for track use.
Even the "economy" ZO6 has a better power to weight ratio than the ZL1, and it's under $100k.
I'm glad my friend is ordering a ZL1. It will be fun to drive. Too bad it's still a year away. He actually has a new Challenger "392" edition coming in soon to hold him over till the ZL1 comes out. I love my Z06, but I like that there are plenty of other fun cars out there.

GM will pull out all stops for the final M/Y of the C6. Like letting buyers order HUD a la carte. Maybe add a color or two that will carry over to the C7.
My sources tell me that we should be prepared to return to our Corvette foundations by embracing a six cylinder, direct injected, twin Turbo engine in an all-new body for either model year 2013 or 2014. So if you have enjoyed your Corvettes with eight spark plugs, as I have since 1965, hang on to them! With new CAFE standards and $4 to $5 gas, they'll be fine examples of the cars we used to have fun with. Keep them nice and you'll have something nice to show the grandkids. Just be happy that they won't be bringing back the two speed PowerGlides to go with the six cylinders.

Your sources must work for Porsche. There is ZERO chance of this, and MY sources work for Chevy!
As you can see from all these posts most of us have no idea what is coming. If some of these posts are more accurate than others we have no way to determine their veracity. The best case scenario:
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. Just click the ruby slippers together and make a wish. Wait, maybe it's make a wish and click the ruby slippers together? I can't remember, you're on your own!!!
NO vette for 2013 and no C7 till 2014 so GM can sell all remaining new 2011-2012 vettes from dealer inventory and then the all new C7 in 2014 will be the only one left to buy new!

Unless the economy really improves, I could see NO 2012 Corvette and a 2013 C7 introduced. Why build a 2012 if there are so many 2011 Vettes sitting there unsold?

For 2012: Possibly the C5.3 (will also be referred to as the "C7".) Expect radical changes for the C8.......whenever(?) Hope I'm around to see how it all plays out. Better than TV.

GM won't not produce in 2013. Its the 60th Annv. I'm saying the 60th will be the farewell to the C6. It might be a very limited production. It will be a ploy to squeeze out a few more sales with the C6 while buying time to improve on the C7. I don't know any of this as fact. I'm just making a guess based on GM's past moves.

Man, I sure hope not. That would be a huge marketing mistake, IMHO. Intro the C7 as the 60th anniversary vs that totally ugly 50th burgundy C5. What a waste of an anniversary.
